Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things.

Hello. A couple of days ago ( 23. 3. 2015) I encountered an issue with the YouTube app of my Xbox 360. I tried to use YouTube, but I got an error code. I though that it would only be a small issue that would be taken care of. Something about the servers
or something like that. But no. The same thing happened yesterday when I tried again ( 25. 3. 2015) and after that, almost everything went down. Now most of the tiles on my Xbox 360 dashboard are grey, as in i can't see any ads or anything. If I try to open
them, it will either be just more grey tiles or it will straigthforwardly just throw me back on the dashboard after trying to load something. Or I get error codes. When trying to download apps, i often get codes 80072F78 or 80072f78. If I try to download games,
then the error code is 8C230002. When trying to download an update, then I always get this monster of an error code 42FE - 0000 - D080 - 0200 - 8007 - 2F78.
I have tried any normal tricks (including a test with a new hard drive), with which i got help from customer support chat. Then I was been asked to post this thing here.

So, should I just buy a new Xbox 360? s:

    :)

    Xbox live acting weird

Is anybody else's Xbox live acting weird ? I can play games online and stuff but certain tiles on the home screen are grey and some the images are distorted and look weird. On my home tile it had a ad for Xbox live gold 40% off but when it clicked on it,
it just went back to the home screen. A lot funky things happening with some of the features on live today, anybody else experiencing this ?

Hello Mister Beep and thank you for your replies Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :)

Unfortunately, none of the steps worked for solving the problems ): I don't have any trouble loading my profile on to the xbox, but the error code 80072F78 comes up when I try to download apps. I can still see my friends when I'm online with my profile and
I'm also able to send them messages (and they seem to able to send them to me). However, when I try to access the Family settings or the Privacy settings, that's when things keep getting weird. On both I get a same message: "This feature is temporarily unavailable"
    plus a status code. For the Privacy settings the code was 80072f78 - a76bc0d7 - 41c9f076 and for the Family settings it was 80072f78 - a9a501a4 - 583a0b48 s:

I am having the exact same problem. I have grey tiles. When I click on them I get an error code saying XBox Service is not available. I also have no images when viewing my AMZ or NTFX films. If I try to play them I get error code MP 1034. My connection
was perfect throughout this. I now have had 3 chat sessions to get to the bottom of it. Trying to delete the cache, delete and redl my profile, deleting the AMZ and NTFX apps (I could not redl these apps because I get the error message XBox Service not available),
complete power shut downs. None of these things worked.

Yesterday I was told to delete the latest XBOX update which I did but now I cannot redownload it. I tried online and usb updating. So now I can't even use my XBox online to play games. I will try to do the update through a CD tonight but if that doesn't
work my only option it seems is to send it in for repair at what $159!!!

So I don't think this is your XBox dying unless both of our are dying at the same time. It is just something weird that apparently support has not figured out how to fix and probably something that happened from their last update.

I've also gotten this error code when clicking on the grey tiles. 8C230002. But none of the techniques listed on the error message page seems to be working.

Could both of you try your profiles on a different Xbox 360 console or try a different Xbox Live profile on your Xbox 360 consoles? I'd like to see if the issue persists or not in either of those scenarios.

Also, if either of you could get a picture or screenshot of the issue and link it in this thread, that will definitely help us a lot!

Thanks guys! Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :)

I don't have a possiblity of testing my profile on a different Xbox, but I have already tried a different Xbox Live profile on my console and the exactly same problems occur s: I also can't take a picture right now, only much later today. To clarify, should
I take a picture of the mostly grey dashboard or something else?

I would say anything that looks like it's related to the issue so we can have a better understanding, but mainly the grey tiles.

Thanks again, er1k122! Let us know how it goes. Grey tiles and other very weird problems with MOST of the Xbox Live -related things. :)

Well, now I have taken the pictures...but I really don't know if they would be much help s: I'm pretty sure that at least here on my end, this problem is caused by some sort of memory corruption. I found out today, that some of my games don't have the save
game files left anymore, or at least the system can't find them. I think that this would also explain the grey tiles and everything, because my internet connection should work like a charm and problems didn't just start instantly (as in, instant disconnection
from the internet can't be the case here obviously). I think that for me this means that I have to buy a new console, because even a test with a new hard drive didn't help s: That would mean that the corruption is not happening only on the hard drive, but
on somekind of a system memory as well, right?

Not sure how to get this picture to show up but you should be able to click that link above and see it on my Photobucket page.

I created a new profile and logged in with no effect on the greying. Unfortunately I deleted the last XBox update, upon Support's suggestion, to see if that was the issue. No I cannot redownload the update. I have tried a USB and CD update. The CD update
appeared to work, my XBox says up to date but then another message comes on saying I need the most recent update. So at this point I cannot do anything online. My connection was perfect prior to deleting the update and I could at least go online and play games.
No my XBox is totally useless.

Again Er1k22 I find it very strange that both our Xboxes are doing the same thing. I don't think it is our XBoxs dying. I think it is something to do with an update or download we both did. Do you play World of Tanks? Besides XBox updates that is the only
game I have gotten updates from lately that I can think of.

  15. Hey er1k122 and D Seeker34!

Sorry to hear that the issue is continuing to occur. In order for us to look into this further, can you please provide us with your console's software version? You can find this information by trying the following steps:

    • From the Home screen, navigate to the the Settings tab.
    • Select System and then select Console Settings.
    • Scroll to the bottom and select System Info.
    • At the bottom of the page you will see a group of numbers that start with the letter D, for example: D:2.0.17150.0.
Also, let us know if you are prompted to install an update by trying the following steps:

    • Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
    • Select Network Settings.
    • If prompted, select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network.
    • Select Test Xbox Live Connection.
    • If there is a software update available, you should be prompted to update at this point.
Please give the suggested steps a try and let us know the requested information. Thanks!
