Grey/Black screen on start up. (Xbox One)

All of a sudden this afternoon my xbox turns on, green xbox logo screen does its thing then its just grey/black. I see a little "Hi x" pop up like usual but the only thing i can do is hold the xbox button on my controller and see the "turn off, restart" options. I tried a hard reset to no avail and just reset my display settings too so now i see the same stuff only at a lower resolution. Stuck for what else i can do other than launch it into the bin.

Can not access trouble shooting menu either. It seems the update has bricked my Xbox. Can only turn on, off or reset it. How do I factory reset without being able to get to the menu?

It has done thus before and the response was cookie cutter then too. Only difference is this time I cannot access to actual menu on my Xbox to do this. The trouble shooter menu worked when this happened before.

Seems several people have the same issue. However probably going to have to wait until they send a hotfix out before we can use it again.

After several swear words and a few talks with my cats about what I was doing wrong, it seems the trouble shooting menu finally popped up after hours of trying.

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

In this case, we just need to reset your console keeping your games and apps through the Xbox Troubleshooter page. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Make sure to follow the steps accordingly to access it:

1. Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.

2. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

3. Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.

4. Press and hold the Pair button (located on the left side of the console) and the Eject button (located on the front of the console), and then press the Xbox button on the console.

5. Continue holding the Pair and Eject buttons for 10-15 seconds.

6. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the Pair and Eject buttons after the second power-up tone.

When the console powers up, you will see the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter. Please click on "Reset this Xbox" then "Reset and keep my games and apps".
