Grey avatar and cannot connect to Xbox Live

Hi,

I have recently bought a PC with Windows 8.1 and started to set it up, I also created a profile in Xbox Live to be able to connect from my Xbox Games app.

The problem is, I can't edit my avatar, I mean the little man (I don't have any other device, just this PC with Win 8.1), it's grey all the time.

Second thing, I try to log in to Xbox Games when I play Solitare and try to log in, the app asks for access, I click Yes, but it doesn't give access anyway, and doesn't connect to Xbox Live. Avatar on Xbox Games stays grey and I am not logged in. I checked
that on my MS account profile, no apps are granted access.

I use the same Microsoft account on PC and Xbox Live.

How to solve it? I want the apps to be integrated.

Can't connect to live

Hello

My son is unable to connect to live on one of the xboxs in our home. The connection test is fine, he is not receiving any error codes, only that he is unable to connect to xbox live. His avatar appears grey. He can connect fine on the 2nd system. Any help
would be appreciated.

Avatar Awards Error?

You have to connect to Xbox Live and update your avatar awards. Just select 'Avatar Awards' in the avatar menu, and it should update your stuff.

Thanks, I'll try there as well.

One thing solved though, my apps can connect to Xbox Live now - the problem was with wrong date setting on my PC

I'm happy to hear you resolved one of your issues already.

As for the other, this link should allow you to edit your Avatar:

live.xbox.com/AvatarEditor

Not sure why, but there seem to be problems doing this from actual devices (Xbox 360 as well as Windows 8).

I am having the same issue but the fact I cannot connect to multiplayer to start with. I am online as indicated in the top right corner where my xbox live ID is shown and connected to a server. Multiplayer tabs are all greyed out. :/ Hoping someone reads
this and comes up with a fix.

The avatar is connected to an offline account you used on the 360. You would need to join Live with that account. Since you created a Microsoft account, it would already have an Xbox account connected to it and you cannot transfer or merge anything with that new account.
