Green vertical lines appear on screen after some gameplay, but only with HDMI cable--not with ...

    Hello,

I have a fairly old Xbox 360 Elite that has always served me quite well. Recently, I bought an HDMI cord to increase the picture quality above the component cord, and it is quite a noticeable difference. I have been utilizing this cord for about a month
and enjoying higher quality picture, but today I suddenly began to see vertical green lines on the screen after playing Diablo 3: RoS for about 10-15 minutes. I have not tested other games, but I have turned the console on and off and seen that this problem
only occurs once I begin playing (and play for a certain period of time, at least). I switched out the HDMI cord with my old component cable and have managed to not have the issue anymore, but the picture quality is decidedly and noticeably worse.

My question is, is it truly that the HDMI cable has gone faulty (within a month of buying it?), or does the 360 just have a higher system strain when outputting to HD rather than component, causing the GPU to overheat? Everything I read online along these
lines suggested GPU problems, and warned me that I would soon receive an E74 error. This has yet to happen because I have been using the component cable instead of the HDMI cable, but I am wondering if it is more likely to happen with the HDMI cable/if there
is anything I can do to fix it. I would much prefer to use the HDMI cable because the picture quality is astonishingly better.

    Thanks!

    :)

  3. Vertical Lines On Screen With HDMI

Is TV HD Ready or Full HD?

Which resolution does your games use?

    Tried different games?

It seems it might be scaling of TV-device to the requested resolution that create unwanted distortion - dithering or stretching.

If any friend of yours have an X1, try his unit on your TV - it could be you TV that has a bug in the algorithms for resolutionstretch.

Is there an auto-setting of resolution and also request capabilities from TV, not force a resolution?

    I only have 360.

As an update, shortly after I posted this, I got the green lines while using the component cable, as well.

I take it this means my GPU is dying/disconnecting?

    whats wrong with it?

It could be the cable your using, I was getting green lines on my screen and when I moved my hdmi cable they stopped. I bought myself a new one and I have never had the lines since.

Im getting these Vertical Lines on a brand new tv while playing games

Hey Rostom. I tried 2 HDMI cables and they both also seemed to do the same thing where it shows the vertical lines.

I also play call of duty and I saw the lines.

Which hdmi cable would work for a 4k Tv but doesn’t support 120 FPS?
