    Just a post here for anyone in 2021 who might find this post helpful considering posts in this topic are now dated. This is also a post based on the Xbox One (touch sensitive face) I'm not sure if this would affect any newer models.

    GREEN SCREEN of DEATH, not the type of kill streak you want for your gaming system

    This is not a post to explain how to do fix it as the older posts have it nailed on and I'm sure by now your know how to get to manual reset screen. --Hold sync and disc open--

    This post is just to make you aware to KEEP TRYING and TURNING IT OFF WHILST UPDATE IS HAPPENING DOESN'T BREAK A THING.

    I must of restarted and rest my console over 20+ times trying different things (out of the 3 choices I had) watching it go over and over and keep ending up on GREEN SCREEN. I tried so much that I can't exactly remember what option it was that fixed it but I do know it was a reset and not restart.

    Eventually I got into Microsoft account screen and recovered gamer tag to which my console loaded back to factory. Yes I do have to reinstall but my console is alive once again.

    KEEP TRYING, MY TOTAL TIME 4.5HOURS.

    Mine has been stuck on the green screen for hours I have tried unconnecting power and reseting but is still stuck on the green screen. is this possibly green screen of death?

    Hey there Ohh Hyperz.

    Sounds like you may be having some troubles with a recent update. When you get a chance please check out this

    Xbox One Update Troubleshooter     and run through all the steps provided there for the green screen. Please let us know how it goes :)

    I hope there is. Not really into the idea of buying a new console, because of some *** up update from Microsoft or any other issue caused by an intern system error.

    Just wanted to add that if that above troubleshooting doesn't help, we do have a wizard on the site about this here on

    “I need help with system updates on my Xbox One”

    Give that a look through as it should be able to help if you are having any kind of start up issue.

    The previously posted troubleshooting is also in there as well.
