Green Screen of Death - E200

My console bricked yesterday. System error code E200 00000EF 0000000

All of the research I've done suggests this error code is the result of a failed update, but as far as I know there weren't any updates released yesterday, right?

When I power the console on, the light comes on, I can hear the fan running. It takes 3-5 minutes or longer for the console to send any signal to my TV at all. Finally after waiting, I'll be at the dreaded green screen. Console stays stuck in this state.
after about 3-5 HOURS in the green loading screen, eventually I'll be presented with another screen that displays the error code. I am presented with a couple options to "reset" the console to factory or try to boot again. Controller is responsive but when
I try to select one of the options the console freezes again in that state and so far remains completely unresponsive until I hard boot again.

I have downloaded the files for an offline system update and complete system restore. When I start the console with the buttons held down and my USB drive plugged in, I do not get the "dings". So as it stands I haven't been able to restore from a USB drive.

Here's exactly what happened: My console was in "sleep" mode. I decided I wanted to install Halo: Reach (this would have been the very first BC game I've tried to install from the disc, I have other but they're all digital). While the console was in sleep
mode, I ejected the disc that was in the drive (A bluray movie) and inserted the Reach game disc. The console started up and then got stuck at a signing in screen (grey circle that just said "signing in"). After about 10 minutes I reset the console via the
touch button on the front and my console has been dead ever since.

Has anybody else experienced this problem WITHOUT a system update failure? Can anyone shed some light on exactly what this error code means? Any info is appreciated as I intend to attempt a repair myself.

I went through this...though only had a black screen....never got to the green screen.....out of the box I never had a video signal. Go to "myservice.xbox.com", register the unit, and complete the return service online. You can use this secure website for
your credit card if choosing the advance replacement option.

As far as the E200 error is concerned, yes it does mean there was an issue with the update. You'll want to give this guide a shot to troubleshoot the error:

If the last system update occurred on 4/27, do you have any ideas for why I'm only just running in to an issue on 5/4?

At any rate, the troubleshooting guide ended in a suggestion to have the unit sent in for repair and I have already contacted the Live Phone team yesterday, which ended in an advisement to attempt a system restore via USB or sending the console in for $115
repair.

Do you have any suggestions that might help with the success of the USB restore?

Sorry you're having issues with your console. The updates roll out in waves, so not everyone will get it at the same time. Also, it depends on how often your console is on, and if you have power saving enabled or not.
