Green Screen of Death and Lagging

For the past couple of months, my Xbox has been acting up. The dashboard lagged when I tried to move the controller, when I tried to pull up snap, or games would randomly not play and say "not ready yet" and that it needs to finish installing, even though
I had recently played it and it had been installed for months or years. Typically I could fix these problems by hard resetting my Xbox. But now, the problems have gotten worse. For the past couple of weeks whenever I turn on my Xbox, I get stuck on the "green
screen of death". It just keeps loading, and I'll wait for ten minutes to an hour before an error screen pops up. Then, I'd choose the option "restart your Xbox" and nothing will happen, so I'd hard reset it again, or sometimes I'd unplug it and wait about
a minute to turn it back on. Then, after completing this process around five more times, it will either finally turn on after waiting for around twenty minutes, or I'd just give up. On the rare occasion that it does turn on, it lags so much that I either have
to sit for five minutes for it to load (on the home screen), or after waiting for a long time the screen just freezes and/or turns black. It worked last night actually, but it was still very laggy on the home screen and after playing a game for a couple of
hours, the game was lagging so I quit it and started again, but it told me that the game was "not ready yet" and had to finish installing, so I just turned off the Xbox. Also, if I try to normally turn of the Xbox by pressing the home button once, it makes
the 'turning off sound', but the home button will just flash for so long without turning off that I have to hard reset it.

I don't know if this will help, but I've had it for almost two or three years, I can't remember. It's the original Xbox one with a 500 gb hardrive with about 90-95% of it used up. I normally have it plugged into a surge protector, but I read that it should
be plugged straight into the wall outlet so I did that and nothing happened. I've also read that I may have to restore it to factory settings, but if I do that, will my progress in games such as Fallout 4 and Minecraft be gone? (As in if I restore it to factory
settings and then redownload my account and games, will I still have the same progress for offline games such as Fallout 4? Because I've put a lot of time into that game)

Any advice would be welcome; I just want to make use of this console that I spent almost $300 on (not including the games) and for it to work properly when I want to play it.

    :)

  2. Green Screen of Death!

I went through this...though only had a black screen....never got to the green screen.....out of the box I never had a video signal. Go to "myservice.xbox.com", register the unit, and complete the return service online. You can use this secure website for
your credit card if choosing the advance replacement option.

    Green screen of death

I did speak to the online support. They recommended calling the phone support and arranging an exchange that will take 3-5 days. I did read that using the "emergency offline update" works but microsoft have taken down the link. I'm waiting to speak to the
online support again and hopefully they will be able to give me the link.

Green Screen of Death and Lagging

Also, I'm currently trying to turn my Xbox on right now. At first I was stuck on the green screen of death and so I hard reset it a couple of times, but right now it isn't even emitting a signal to the tv when I turn it on. I tried unplugging it and hard
resetting it, and I checked the hdmi cord plugged into the tv, but it still doesn't send any signal to the tv. The home button on the console is lit up though, so I know it's on but I don't know what to do. Please help.

My Xbox One lasted One year and four months before breaking. Now I have a 500 dollar paper weight

    you can try
    this
, looks like some are having luck getting the system back up and going from the green screen of death.

Sounds like you may be having some troubles with a recent update. When you get a chance please check out this

I hope there is. Not really into the idea of buying a new console, because of some *** up update from Microsoft or any other issue caused by an intern system error.
