Green Screen/ Black Screen of death

My frustration level continues to grow and grow. No matter how hard I try and convince myself that I am never leaving Xbox the Xbox One keeps trying to make me do it. Now here is my latest problem. Everything was fine. I stopped to put a DVD in for my kids,
waiting waiting my controller does this weird vibrate and it gives me this super long error code and report if this continues to happen blah blah. I get and have always gotten error codes on my one. This is nothing new to me so I don't stop the universe so
I can write down the "code". It goes to the home page with the network "wheel" spinning like it's trying to sign in or something but it never stops. I restart my xbox its stuck on the green screen. I restart it again and this time I just leave it on screw
it. It goes to a black screen with the logo on it. Hmm progress? it goes to the home page, HOLY CRAP! Then I see this "ms-resource: LABEL_APP_DISPLAY_NAME". So
I try to go to the settings app and it moves a tile or 2 and freezes. Since then I have not made it past the Green screen. I download OSUT2, hold the keys and it goes to the green screen. I try a system restore, hold the keys and nothing it goes to the green
screen. No beeps whirls blinks, nada. I can add this to a long long list of problems I have had with my Xbox One. I have been an owner of every Xbox system and have been on Xbox live for over 10 years. If this is going to cost me money in any way. I'm done.
I will take my money to Sony. I have been complaining about my system since I got it (directly from MS on day one) as it has never worked correctly. All they ever say is power cycle it, delete the blu ray cache, its the same crap over and over and none of
their suggestions has ever worked on anything ever. I feel robbed they know they sold me a brick and like an idiot I keep going "Uh Ok I'll do the same thing that's never worked not even once, AGAIN".

I feel the return rate with Xbox One could be very high.

So people please tell me that someone out there has run into this same problem and knows how to fix it. When I plug in my USB and hold the Bind and Eject key it's supposed to look for the USB and load from there. Mine appears not to look for anything and
just goes to the green screen. My USB lights up when it is plugged in. When I plug it in to the Xbox One? It's on for a milisecond and done. Dark the entire time and my Xbox doesn't even look for the USB and yes it's formatted to NFST and yes I extracted the
files to an empty USB stick. I am beyond P*$$ED OFF

 

I'm having the same problem you're having and I don't think we are alone. They want me to pay for the repair because my warranty expired, but I refuse to spend any more money on this piece of crap.

 

My XBOX one had the green screen happen yesterday. I was playing a game and it froze, which happens a lot, restarted the system and it wont advance past the green screen with the Xbox logo. I have followed all of the steps in the troubleshooting section
online without success. I then tried to log in so I could send MS a message and ask for guidance and all I get is an error notification saying that the service is unavailable.

 

When it works it's great the problem is mine hardly ever works. I manage to get it to work which I have been doing since the day I got it in the mail. I was going to send it in for warranty work but I got a bunk stereo headset and they agreed to replace
it. I sent it to them (on my dime) and they sent back a regular $20 headset. Needless to say that took 2 months and 5 different customer services reps to get straightened out. Now you want me to send you my Xbox One? How can I possibly trust you? To make it
even better they told me we are giving you a free 3 months of Xbox Live and your incident was so bad we changed our protocol to make sure this snafu doesn't happen again. Guess what? Never got it. LOL whatever just send me my stereo headset please.

Hi, I can fully understand your frustrations regarding this problem and yes it does appear to be an issue that is increasing in regularity.

It looks like you all pretty much tried everything including the factory restore using a usb flash drive which does actually work but not in all cases as indicated in the thread below.

Sometimes if the xbox doesn't seem to be picking up the usb flash drive it can be as simple as trying another usb port on the xbox and following the process exactly as described on the offline system diagnostic website.

Whether this is going to be another RROD scenario nobody can say but I certainly hope not.

If you have exhausted all the troubleshooting steps then a repair/replacement would of course be the only option for now.

Sorry if you were expecting a guaranteed answer but from what I see there just isn't one, what works for some just doesn't for others. I do wish you all well though and hopefully something can be found that will resolve this issue 100% of the time.

 

I can see when mine loads the lights on my USB Mem stick do not light up on any of the port until 5 minutes after it was started. This is total BS
