Green loading screen followed by black screen

Please help, my Son's Xbox One isn't working. He gets the green loading screen initially and after a few minutes this switches to an all black screen. We've tried it on another TV and it's the same, we've tried the reboot and its still the same.

Is there anything else I can do?

I've found plenty of info on the 'black screen of death' - but most of the solutions I have read seem to rely on having access to the dashboard, which we just don't have.

Can I just ask, will he need to reload all of his games etc again or will these automatically reload when he signs back into Live? (assuming of course that this fixes the problem!!)

Absolutely fantastic, thankyou so much! We have just done this and it appears to have solved the problem....one very happy son and one extremely relieved mum!! Appreciate all of the help very much 😊

Hi Lacey,

I'll be happy to answer that. There are two options when factory resetting an Xbox. There is Reset and keep my games and apps, and Reset and remove everything. A soft factory reset is termed for resetting the console while keeping everything installed. Saved
data will be re-synced from the Xbox Live cloud the next time you start a game after a reset. Profile will be removed and will need to be re-added and the console will need to re-connect to the network. However, you will need to factory reset the Xbox using
the start up Troubleshooter since you can't access the system settings.

Follow these steps: (Original Xbox One)

Unplug the network cable if you're using a wired network connection.
Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
Wait 30 seconds, and then plug the power cord back in.
Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the
EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
Xbox button on the console.
Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

A screen with "Troubleshoot" at the top will appear and navigate using the D-pad to Reset this Xbox and select keep my games and apps. The steps above are for an Original Xbox One; the only difference is the placement of the BIND and EJECT buttons but the
process is the same no matter what model Xbox One you have.
