    I was trying to buy a one month Xbox live membership when I realized that the Microsoft account for payment option was grayed out for some reason, I do have money in the account.

    Does it take the money out automatically from the account or what?

    Can you go into a little more detail for me. Just gone to download it myself (and have no payment options on my account) and it goes through fine. Even the "add payment option" is grayed out.

    Have you tried it since?

    I'm trying to buy the Season Pass with my Microsoft Account balance, but when I go to "select payment", on my 360, that option is grayed out!

    My balance is only $41, but like you said above, I should be able to choose a second payment option to cover the rest.

    You cannot purchase a subscription with your MS balance. You need to use a payment method on the account or a subscription code. Xbox is transitioning to allow subscription purchases with MS balances but as far as I know it's not service wide
    yet.
