Graphics are something that never really mattered to me. Good graphics are a perk to this gen of gaming but they don't mean much if the gameplay is garbage or the story is lame. But it can also depend on the game.

Without good gameplay the game isn't fun, without a good story you don't have any reason to play single player especially if the game doesn't have a multiplayer, graphics are least important because without good gameplay and a good story the game isn't fun.
There needs to be a balance IMO.

I personally think all three are as important as each other.

I like my games to look pretty but they must have a good storyline also, and gameplay speaks for itself.

If I had to put them into an order though I think for me it would be:

    Gameplay > Story >Graphics.

  5. Gameplay is by far the most important to me. I hardly ever play story mode games anymore so if it doesn't run well it isn't worth playing to me.

  6. All the above.

Graphics: Whats the use of having, for example. 4k Tv and only viewing entertainment media at full price that can't hit at least 900p? That's like going out and buying Beta max tapes for use on a Blu-Ray player.

Gameplay and Story: Can only make the eye candy even more appealing.

Face it. A game is nothing more than an interactive movie. So all 3 factors have to come together in order. And the ones that can pull it off often exceed projected sales figures, and without having to hype it up!

I have never heard video games being compared to movies until this pass decade Efly. I do the following game play (and replayable), story, and then graphics. I grew up with Pong so my graphical setting is very very low. The only game I bought based on graphics
being number one was AC Unity. Now my wife was a big screen tv 121 giga hertz flux cap, and 1080p.

Your wife was a big screen TV? Man, the bedroom antics must have been fun, learning which ports were compatible and such. =P Heh ha.

  9. Gameplay is number one for me because I spent money to play a game, not look at a pretty picture or listen to a story.

Graphics, like all art is a matter of opinion if it's good or not. Hyper realistic, stylized, cel shaded, cartoon graphics, 2D .... they can all look good or bad.

Most video game stories are nonexistent or just plain bad, I didn't need 10 minutes of exposition to tell me Super Mario Bros. or Sonic was great or that my 2600 or Colecovision was worthy of me playing them. I most definitely know that some games have a
great story ..... but let me introduce you to my friend "The Book" and his cousin "The Movie" far better resources to get your story from.

Definitely gameplay and story. Some of the best games I've played had horrible graphics, and some of the worst games I've played had great graphics.
