graphics, gameplay, or story - why?

I don't really care about a good story. I read a lot of books. Good graphics mean the most to me in regards to console games. I do not like gaming on a pc, but graphics are the most important to me.

The greatest story in the world can't make someone continue with it if the gameplay is a pain. Ryse had a great story, but repetitive gameplay. I still had to urge to finish it to see how it unfolded. Again, there are lots of games like this.[/quote]

Skyrim the not so beautiful land

Graphics are just as important as gameplay. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.

No one would buy a game if it had PS2 graphics, no matter how good the gameplay or story was. If Skyrim had Morrowind graphics no one would have bought it.

The newest Tomb Raider was just perfect with graphics, gameplay and story

 

@brandiesel1 I didn't think the controls on Resident Evil 5 were bad. Sadly the best that can be said is that they were functional. Capcom wanted a more action packed game but kept the controls very similar to the slower paced 1 to 3.

What's the point in playing a game if the story isn't interesting. Story doesn't just mean a main narrative but also the story of the world you are inhabiting

I can't speak for Ryse as I've never played it.

 

I still think games with a bad story are really fun or else I wouldn't play them everyday. I usually daydream while I'm playing and make up my own story as I go. It is very rare that I actually pay attention to a story in a game.

 

I too think all three matters. I've been really enjoying single player games that are smooth going and have good graphics.

For me, gameplay is number one, it has to feel good playing it. Number two is the story, I like to get into a story that keeps dragging me back. And lastly, graphics, while a beautiful game to look at is nice and all, it isn't absolutely necessary.

Gameplay beats ALL. Good graphics and a good story are nice but it's not why I buy video games.

 

If gameplay is all that counts then why bother playing Halo Anniversary, Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and Halo 4.

 

I don't even remember the stories for most halo games.But they were still fun.

 

The gameplay of the Halo FPS games is, near enough to make no difference, identical.

Therefore if gameplay is all that matters then why play five of them

 

Gameplay. Graphics and story are all good and gravy, but if it's not fun to play, well...

 

Definitely gameplay. Half the time I don't even know what the hell is going on in the story, but the gameplay is just so damn fun, I get lost in it and can't stop playing for hours. Graphics are nice to look at, but when it comes down to it, if the gameplay
is fun, I'm game.

I'll give an example. Borderlands 2. Graphics? Not the best. Story? I don't even know what the hell was happening to be honest. We were saving the world killing some bad guys here and there lol. Dat gameplay doe? Da bes.
