  1. GPU not being fully used when gaming

For some reason my computer doesn't fully use it's GPU. It used to be using 99% when playing Hell Let Loose but now it has drops and its average usage is around the 70% mark. I have updated drivers for both of my GPUs.

Is there something I have to do to make the GPU be fully engaged to not lose fps or is it normal for it to drop like that when gaming?

I have an Acer laptop with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU that comes with an intel UHD Graphics as well.

    :)

GPU not being fully used when gaming

I set my laptop on high performance on windows and NVIDA control panel. also made sure that the game was using the NVIDIA GPU.

I launched the game for about 6 minutes and the first 5 minutes I was getting from 70 to 90 FPS with a 99% GPU usage and a CPU being used at around 40-50% with some spikes that would go to to high 60s and low 70s. But after that the GPU usage dropped to the 70s and FPS dropped to 50-60. I got killed and the GPU usage dropped to the 30s while the CPU stayed in the 30-40s.

I just recently factory reset my laptop due to a connection to monitor issue and I dont have anything downloaded except for hell let loose.

I also have a problem where the audio suddenly stops working until I toggle off and on spatial sound or audio devices. This started after the factory reset, I got help on another post which fixed it for a little bit but now its back. How to fix audio problem? - Microsoft Community here is the post if you like to help out.

GPU not being fully used when gaming

    Hello Brian,

    Thanks for posting your question!

It’s pretty normal for GPU usage to fluctuate, but if it used to run at 99 percent and now it’s hovering around 70 percent, something might have changed.

First, check that your laptop is set to High Performance in Windows power settings and that the NVIDIA Control Panel is set to Maximum Performance for the game. Also, make sure Hell Let Loose is actually using your RTX 3050 Ti and not defaulting to the Intel UHD Graphics.

Another thing to look at is your CPU. If it is getting maxed out, it could be bottlenecking your GPU. Try monitoring CPU usage while gaming to see if that is the issue. Closing any unnecessary background apps can also help free up resources.

Does this happen with other games, or is it just with Hell Let Loose? Also, have you recently installed any apps that run in the background, like Discord, MSI Afterburner, or other overlays? Some of these can affect GPU performance.

Hope this helps and let me know what you find.

Note: Just a friendly reminder that this is a public forum, I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.

    Games not using GPU

My CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600 and while I understand that the 2060 is not a high end GPU, when I was using the 580 starfield at least used the GPU. It maxed it out and had some stuttering issues, but it was at least being used. Now with the 2060, games that had previously used my GPU are no longer doing so. In task manager under GPU Engine, it keeps saying GPU 0 - Copy instead of GPU 0 - 3D for the games I mentioned above and the CPU is being used instead.

Dots appear on screen with some greenish-blue lights at the center. (Xbox 360 E)

The artifacts are caused not by cracked solder, but by the GPU being damaged by thermals. This also happens on PCs when the GPU does not get sufficient cooling. And unlike Microsoft, GPU card manufacturers do not use dollar store grade solder. But yes. It
needs to be repaired, as there is no way of fixing this.
