Personally I think the coolest thing Phil ever did was slap all those "Xbox One will never be sold without a kinect" fanboys in the face when they announced the kinectless sku on June 9th, 2014. The forums were even more
hilarious back then. So many broken hearted fanboys that day. Keep up the good work Phil!

 

I use my One for media on occasion but I want the primary focus of the console to be games.

If I was going to use a machine primarily for media then my One would not be it, I'd connect my laptop up to my TV as it is far better at the job.

So no the One isn't just for gamers but that is where its primary focus should be.

 

^^ I agree. Most people who buy the ONE or any console are gamers and want it mainly for gaming. At the end of the day, it's called a videogame console, not a multimedia device.

 

i use mine for everything. I brought it as a gaming device, but all the other features are a pleasant surprise.

 

tohellnbak - No, I've never seen a friend watching tv using the xb1. Maybe IE or Youtube, that's about it

 

The X1 is mine one stop for all things entertainment, I have ups and downs, some weeks it is all about gaming, other weeks its all about watching my stories, I currently have 5 friends online, 2 are playing games, 3 are watching something.

Last gen broke down the wall between video games and other sources of entertainment, nothing wrong with that.

 

Funny, because every gaming website forum I visit and in here.....for months nothing but a bunch of whining: where is HBO GO, why can't I stream media like xbox 360, why can't I play music in the background, where is plex, why no media center extending,
etc...goes on forever...obviously there is a big demand for these things. Either that, or all these people are the biggest hypocritical whiners on earth.

Music and games go hand in hand imo. Custom soundtracks/background music should of been there in the start.... As it was for the original Xbox & 360.

 

Nothing hypocritical about it at all. The 360 had those features and was primarily focused on gaming.

Therefore it isn't unreasonable for people to expect the One to at least feature match its predecessor.

People might like the media functions of their console but they are rarely why the console was bought.

 

In many ways, the One has far exceeded the 360 in terms of features, but not necessarily in some areas that many deem critical.

 

While I am happy he responded he also didn't do much to deal with the underlying perception that PS4 has a better line up in 2015 than X1. The article proved it was slanted by using the term Xbone but many other places are also asking what is the awesome
lineup? I was hoping they would address for the holiday season but from some consumers view point, Sony put their cards on the table so you know what you will get and MS is still hiding theirs with "Wait and see".

 

@nwrlds...you must be new here and must have missed the never ending threads and threats from people when they found out the one doesn't "extend" media center. They all refuse to buy it because of this.
