Fired up the ole Xbox One to do some gaming and pass the time tonight. First time she's been fired up in about 3 weeks, you'd think this bad boy was built in the stone age she's so slow. 3 hours to apply an update...what are you updating? I could update
my resume with a new job or two faster than this update is applied. These systems are slower than the computer Steve Jobs built in his garage. I can fire up the PS2, N64, or SEGA Genesis and give the fan a blow and its ready to play a game, meanwhile my Xbox
One is still trying to install the game I own the disk for. I love me some Xbox Live but by the time I am able to get online I have grown a beard and shaved it 4 times. How has technology gone backwards? Instead of giving consumers the latest and greatest
system you've developed the slowest, second only to my Delorean. What do we have to do to speed these things up? Call Pied Piper...otherwise I'm your guy let me help, I have all 75 achievements on Halo 3 and all 52 achievements for NCAA Football 2010. I know
these games are from the Xbox 360 but i've spent more time updating my Xbox One an installing games that I have the disc for than playing my 15 month old Xbox One. I should get my Grandma one of these machines for Christmas because they don't go too fast.
I wrote this and beat 007 Agent Under Fire campaign on medium difficulty on my PS2 faster than my hard wired console was able to install the latest update...thank goodness for the 90's.

I just want to give you my money and play COD WWII. Help me out? Time is money.

Xbox One X comes out in 3 more days or so. It has a faster CPU (2.3Ghz vs. 1.75Ghz) and faster and more RAM too (GDDR5 @ 326GB/s bandwidth - 12GB!). And it also will have a FASTER 7200RPM (not slow 5400RPM) HDD too. The download is fast. But the Verification
and Install parts of the update, are abnormally long for everyone. It takes at least 3x longer to (1) verify, and (2) install..... than it does to download.

As for the Xbox One latest system update, a lot of people are complaining about it. I agree. Microsoft is the biggest software company in the world. And this is the best they've got?! They need to remember that all ages play Xbox, from 5 year olds to 60
year olds and more. Thus they should make sure that kids, teens, young adults, middle aged adults, are happy with the UI, which OBVIOUSLY, not all those groups like the latest system update. Yeah, your grandma will LOVE..... the Xbox One UI. No hurry in watching
how long it takes the software to load stuff. Xbox 360's current UI is great and works fast and fluid with more emphasis on avatars than Xbox One's UI has ever been. Especially when you consider the hardware it's running on including GDDR3 memory. I have the
Xbox 360 slim console. Take a look at PS4 Pro's UI (I had this console for a few months). It's simpler in terms of overall layout, than Xbox One's. And I speak from experience too, especially having owned an Xbox One since it launched in November. As for the
update sizes, it is something you'll have to get used too. It's best to be with an ISP provider that doesn't have any monthly data caps. I'm with Vodafone NZ 100mb/s download and 10mb/s upload speed unlimited data.

 

Maybe they cumulated the last two updates - there were two a week apart or so - first doing one in full then the next.

System updates takes much longer than it used to - think they are doing a lot more checks and verifying than before - for everything to do ok.

Could be a one time thing.

I don't think it's all that bad - but don't use online features and social stuff etc - so know nothing about those parts.

One thing they improved that used to take minutes - going games&app and Updates and see if anything to update(I don't have autoupdate on that).

This is now listing pending updates in a few seconds - compared to a minute before.

GUI for me is soooo much nicer and cleaner and less clutter - most essential stuff only in the fall update - for me, that is.

MS is promoting Xbox to be so many things - and seems always some people are unhappy whatever they change.

All though your methaphors are funny and all - what is the problem?

Any problem once game is started, or?
