Got refurbished xb1 with new XBL account name/no friends

Hi all,

I recently received my xbox one (refurbished) in the mail. When signed in the associated email with my gamertag was changed to something completely random "' . My entire friends list and and message list were also cleared as well. Is there
anyway I can get back to my old gamertag? I can't seem to recover it somehow. I understand I can change my current gamertag, but I'd love access to my old account.

Gamertag Help FAST!!!

I have an old account with my name and I want to have that name on my new account but I can't becouse I have to delete the other XBL account! How do I delete my XBL account? Not my Gamer Profile, but my XBL. Respond in English or Norwegian FAST!!

Using existing gamertags on new live account rather than starting over as new gamer

Hi, I just joined XBL today, got connected but so far have not been able to link Live with my sons previously created gamer tag and avatar. He want to keep his previously generated progress, not start with a new name at square one. How do I link the new
XBL account to his old avatar??

It sounds as though you may have accidentally created a new gamertag overtop your existing one. Please try the steps at one of the two following links to change the email associated with the tag your are posting with.

Are you at your friends house or are they over there using XBL? Or do you just have access to their account whenever you need it?

As for the GT change you have already contacted Support in regards to the matter. If your GT does not violate the XBL Terms of Service or Code of Conduct then you will need to purchase a new name change.

New online service (XBL on the XB1) = New problems. Be patient, they will be addressed over time as long as they're aware of it (and they are). You have to remember - it took years for the XBL marketplace on the X360 to get where it is today. The same is
happening with the XBL store on the XB1. It's the same thing that happens to every new service - they all have their speed-bumps when they first release that eventually get ironed out. Have faith and take heart.

UPDATE: 23/10/2014

I just received my console today and as I was expecting a refurbished console NOT a brand new one. The good thing is they got it right this time and it actually works!

Recap: Sent my brand new xbox one for fan noise issues... Got sent back a replacement (refurbished) doesn't even work (shows somekind of error that asks contact xbox support) contacted xbox support and they "advanced exchange repair" me. After a day got
my new (refurbished) xbox one that works.

thank you xbox! I love your refurbished xbox one's even though I sent you a new one you gave me back a refurbished one.

BTW, where you trying to add 14 days to an existing XBL membership? as those 14 day "trials" are for brand new accounts only, with new XBL names, not current active ones
