    Are you trying to purchase the game through the website or via the Xbox console?

    Please confirm the currency of your gift card through https://account.microsoft.com/ > Payment & billing > Payment options.

    The currency should match the store region you're accessing with.

    It's true. You can't use funds from a gift card (which is what the Microsoft account balance is) to purchase a gift card.
