  1. Gore/profanity filter...

I am so glad they offered this function and I wish more companies would go this route and here is why.

When my kids are in the house I love the option to turn off the profanity (gore in this game is cartoony and I'm not that concerned with it). I'm just really glad they gave us this option. Like with GTA5, I couldn't play this with ANYBODY in the house and that's
because it was the most verbally profane game I've ever played. Not that I care when I'm playing, I just like to be able to turn it off when the need arises.

Am I alone on this one or do you guys appreciate being able to turn on/off profanity/gore?

    :)

Black Ops had one, and it was M.

MonkRug, I tried your filter method but it didn't work. Once I realized I ruined a $60 game I started cussing.

If you don't mind gameshoes3003, please let me know when you can. Thanks!

Most games don't have a filter do they?

    Atleast I've never seen 'em.

That's why they have a rating on the front of the box.

I guess it is a good option from any point of view. It doesn't really have any negative impact. I never use it though.

I think the option is wonderful if the developers feel they can afford the effort to include it. It is an excellent extra for gamers with family. I can understand developers not wishing to include them in certain games though. Many titles rated Mature contain
adult content much more consistently through important story beats and cinematics and the like.

I imagine it would be difficult to create content modifiers for something like Grand Theft Auto where there is a lot of adult material featured in cutscenes and the like but with a game like Sunset where most of the adult material is just language and gore,
it's significantly less work to bleep out the bad words and avoid rendering the gore splatters.

Although if I had my magic game design wand I'd include something akin to the "Grunt Birthday Party" skull to every violent game. Ryse would be so amazingly great with confetti beheadings.

  6. Renzo,

Which game are you referring to.

I like the Idea of being able to filter out the gore and language, not just for my son but also for my self. We are bombarded with profanity all day long, It world be nice to come home to a nice post apocalyptic game and not have to deal with the game cussing
at you. I don't mind the gore so much as I do the profanity.

It doesn't matter to me. I have 2 kids aged 7 and 2, but I only play when they're in bed anyway so it doesn't bother me. Good for people that want it though.
