Goodbye to Microsoft

vDEACON, I appreciate you asking for clarification. My reasons may not make sense to you honestly. I do not think Sony will give me squat quite frankly. Best case, I get a PS4 and enjoy my time with it while getting nothing for free. I'm not naive; I
know plenty of other people feel that they are "special" too. Sure, plenty of people stuck with MS after a RROD, even two or 3. Plenty of people have been an XBoxer for a decade. I'm sure quite a few have had to call MS, wait on hold for 75 minutes (4 seperate
calls) and get told by somebody that the issue is being "researched." I am not the only one that has had issues and maybe most of these people are content to keep going onward in this way. Like an abusive relationship, they stay even after all of the police
reports and injuries. I am not staying. Maybe my next relationship will be just as bad, or even worse. Won't know until i try.

Lots of folks have spent a ton of time and money on LIVE like me. Many of those people are probably still kids and will be able to continue to spend tons of time on LIVE, whereas I work and have a child and can't spend 3-4 hours a day gaming anymore. So
yes, I'm not the only person that deserves some acknowledgement and did not receive it. If those people are okay with that, I'm happy for them. I am not willing to continue on. My complaint will no doubt be filed in the trashcan; such is life. In my opinion,
I maintain some dignity by standing up for myself and refusing to let it go on.

I get it. Nobody cares about me or my whining. I feel my response is justified but others may not. Hope this clears my thought process up for you. Glad you are happy with MS and hope you continue to be.

People kill me. Funny thing about Sony is I havent heard anything about them offering any kind of incentive to upgrade. And they even acknowledge half of their player base didnt own a PS3. Yet there so called loyal customers get nothing? Yeah great company
to be apart of.

No one tell this guy about the free consoles MS gave out in November. He'd probably go on a shooting rampage at work.

Can you "people" just respect his decision without acting like a bunch of immature kids? He gave his reason as to why he is dissatisfied, so let it go as that.

Some people will have a good experiences others won't. It's not anyone's right to act as judge, jury, and executioner if they don't fall into the mainstream on here speaking of rainbows and lollipops when dealing with MS.

 

When the OP uses terms such as MS spitting in his face and disrespecting him, it's fairly inevitable, it was hardly a balanced farewell.

 

I'm not sure where the misguided reasoning that Sony is better in regards to customer service/treatment is coming from. I have owned both companies consoles since the Xbox/PS2 days and had my fair share of experiences (both negative and positive), and I
can say that despite what many seem to think, Microsoft is actually better. I had two RROD in the early years of the 360, and each one was fixed quickly, with little fuss, and for
free. Meanwhile, my PS3 has broken seven times, and despite my wishes to not, my wife insisted on getting it fixed every time, which was troublesome, lengthy and cost $150 a pop (except for the one time it broke the same week it was returned after
being "fixed").

Point being that sour experiences can be found on both sides of the fence, and it would be a shame to miss out on an entire console worth of gaming because you did not get a special offer (which, by the way, many people didn't).

 

Well said Dogmeat. The thing about these kinds of post is they are all whine whine whine me me me. Not everyone gets everything and if you missed out it sucks for a minute but get over it. It reminds me of elementary school with people's way of thinking
sometimes. Oh you didnt give me your snack pack? Im not your friend, and Ill be friends with that guy who doesnt even eat snack packs. If you want to go and spend $400 on a PS4 thats your business, but did you really expect sympathy from anyone here with your
self entitled whine fest?

 

IMO, the OP is choosing a bad time to leave - MS in in the process of turning things around for the better with its new feedback site, new head of everything Xbox, and its many policy reversals.

The Xbox One console is a great product from my personal experience and I'm not sure why you're willing to pass it up based on not feeling rewarded and at least one bad support experience.

I've been online with Xbox Live support many times and I can tell you without a doubt that the experience is generally 50/50. Sometimes you get good, friendly, and helpful people; other times you simply get people who follow the guidebook in front of them
and otherwise don't know what they're talking about. This is likely true of any support setup, regardless of company.

If you'd like to switch consoles far be it for me to stop you, but as of right now, I don't think you'll find what you're looking for with Sony.

Regardless of what I've said or think, however, I want you to know and hear this most of all: I wish you the best of luck in your decision and genuinely hope you will be happy with it.

Do you know the OP? Do you know his likes and dislikes? What are his favorite games? What does he like to do on the weekend, etc., etc.. You don't know.

So how in the world can you make such a brash statement on what he will or will not find? You can't, nor can I or anyone else but him.

 

It's not really a question of his likes/dislikes as far as gaming, at least not from what I gathered from the original post. His beef seems to be with MS and their interaction with their customers and their lack of compensation when it comes to console
support through purchasing games, consoles, etc.

What many seem to point out, and it's hard to disagree with, is that Sony has some of the same problems. Automatic renewal for PS+ memberships, some lackluster games offered up free, questionable customer support practices, I could go on and on.

 

@Dog....that's not the point. Sony could have 10x the problems MS has in some peoples minds. That has nothing to do with the feelings the OP has towards MS.

Sometimes people need to get things off their chest, and that's what he did. If it makes him feel better, good. It's better than holding it in. There's no need to berate him.
