Good News for Australian & New Zealand members!

Good morning yall. It's Wednesday 7:15 am NZ time. I just woke up ;D

So I logged onto my Xbox 1 console this morning. I had it set to Australian locale because voice commands is locked for NZ locale. I just found out TWO things.

NETFLIX is coming to Australia and NZ! Coming Soon. Saw the big ad! How awesome is that! I changed my locale back to proper NZ and under the NZ Dashboard, it says the same add as the Australian Dashboard. size 54.92MB Release date 3/3 today is 3/3 for Australia
and NZ. Australia is only 2 hours behind NZ time. I've downloaded the app but it says it isn't available yet even though today is the 4th. Unless Microsoft got it wrong and Netflix isn't coming and is just messing around with me.

Next good news.... I found out that I can use Voice Commands now under New Zealand locale. There's an additional Spoken Language. I had mine set to none. I chose English (Australia) since there is very little time difference between us compared to the rest
of the world like the UK and US. And the Dashboard is carrying out voice commands. I'm not sure if I have to change my Locale to Australia if I want to use voice commands in Kinect Sports Rivals. At launch and the following months, if NZ'rs wanted voice commands
with Kinect, you had to change your locale to Australia temporary which Microsoft apparently allows. I'm playing around on the Dashboard. I need to get off otherwise I'll be late. I've spent long enough on this forum this morning. So far, the Netflix which
is finished installing only says it's coming to NZ soon. It's 4 March. Screamride comes out tomorrow! for EB Games NZ.

Have a great Wednesday boys and girls!

    :)

fix the exchange rate for microsoft points

I know, it sucks.. But, we do pay 10% GST for any non essential purchases in Australia & 15% GST in New Zealand though & Microsoft would have to pay the Australian &/or New Zealand TAX Departments, for any purchases sold in ANZ..

The United States, charges between 0-10.25% for Goods and Services Tax... (Depending on what US State etc)

  5. I hope you enjoy all of the new features in your neck of the woods. Good News for Australian & New Zealand members! ;)

...still it seems a bit odd to me knowing that you're just now getting Netflix and voice commands when I've been able to use both for years. ><

Netflix won't be that awesome because they've sold the exclusive rights to other online retailers for all the best shows, so they won't even have some of the shows they've produced themselves for their own service. I'll be waiting until that's all finished
    before subscribing:

  10. Hello Aussies and NZ bro's, You're still better off with a U.S netflix account. There are "services" online that will do this for you, or you could set up a U.S address.

Glad that NZ is now being recognized by the xb1

  11. ^They're actually looking at blocking Aussies who use that back door, they currently allow it due to not actually having the service here, but from what I've been reading, if you're an Aussie using the US service you'll be blocked from doing so when the
    Aus version is here.

  12. ^ Thats what the "Services" part of my message meant, I didn't really say that well. Currently it's about $12 to get "help" with netflix, straight out direct is about $9. Just out of interest, our mentally challenged Government will never be able to lock
us out of anything for too long. Out of interest, I work for an American company in Aus, My email address is in the U.S, my street address is in the U.S.

Foxtel is doomed in this country, people will hang on as long as they can't afford the bandwidth for Netflix through telstra who incidentally own half of Foxtel. Free to air is fooling itself,,,,,,,,,,,

It's funny though, they actually encouraged it, haha. I just hope that eventually it's on par with the US service and then there's no need to use anything else imo. I personally use ITunes as it's the only thing I had an account with where I could download
TV shows and never bothered to look into anything else.

I really don't like Foxtel for taking the rights to Game of Thrones last year and I couldn't get it on ITunes.

  14. Sorry for thread Hijack smilesky - Australia has the highest rate of downloading "Game of thrones" illegally.

  15. Ok, I'll admit this isn't relevant to the thread, but that's why I'm proud to say I held out until the DVD release which was roughly the 23/02/2015. It was a long wait, but couldn't be bothered with any illegal download shenanigans.

If Netflix were here though, I think I could have at least watched each episode after it had aired on Foxtel, iTunes was on some moral high ground and I didn't want to sign-up for Google play.
