  2. Internet speed good enough?

I just got netflix on my xbox, and everytime i snap nextflix and then join a game ( i play ghost sometimes but mostly battlefield ) i start to lagg HORRIBLY. My player rubber bands everytime i move and my shots dont register, but the second i unsnap nextflix
it is almost as if i became host. I am wondering is it my internet (51.8down 8.7up) or is it the netflix app. Also, any solutions?

  3. can I play BF3 on a 6mbs connection?

The minimum internet speed required for playing Xbox 360 online is at least 1mbps download speed and 200 kbps upload speed. You should not have any problems.

you don't need much bandwidth to play online, if i recall correctly, i was monitoring my usage while playing Titanfall, and it was only about 0.75mbps during the matches, i recall someone saying that Destiny was a little higher. so unless you're planning
on streaming your gameplay on Twitch or something, you'll be fine with a simple 5mbps connection, but if someone will also be streaming Netfilx(or something like that), or if you plan on getting a lot of games digitally then you'd want more speed.

but you really need to be looking at the latency, stay away from satellite and wireless internet providers as they will have the highest amount of latency, if possible going with fiber or cable internet would be best for low latency.

  6. You could have the fastest Internet in the world and still lag.. it depends on who's connection you are on. I have 55Mbps and I tend to lag in some lobbies, where others I don't.

Thanks guys .. I'm sure part of my problem is the rest of my family is on their computers or playing Their 360s .. That's why I was just going to get timewarner just for my room and run the Ethernet straight to the xbox..

Good internet speeds for online gaming?

I only have 13 mbps and my son and I play Destiny and Diablo together on the same internet all the time. It can get laggy for a minute sometimes but most of the time it works great.

its not the speed.. it your wire efficiency and your ping that really matter... a guy with a 5Mb 10ms Ping will have better actions than a guy with a 150Mb ~ 125Ms ping.

Part of the problem is the client/server model that some games use for online play, as well as the speed of the connections of other users in the game.

Advanced Warfare will accept players with pings as high as 800ms (at least on PC) and it currently uses a client/server model (which most people would call "P2P") for the online play, so one person is selected as the host and whether you experience lag or
not will partially depend on the quality of their connection, even if yours is fine.

You can kind of think of it like this - Let's say you're not the host in the game. You pull the trigger to fire your gun. That command is then sent via your internet connection to the host, it's processed, then it's sent out from there to the other clients
(players) connected to the same host, so while you see your character fire his gun on screen as soon as you pull the trigger, the other players in the game won't see that happen until that data is sent from you to the host, then out to the clients. If ping/latency
is low, there's no noticeable delay, but obviously the higher the ping is, or if the host's connection suddenly has issues (or they're download/uploading files or something at the same time), then you'll see the effects of lag, which usually manifests itself
as stuttering/players jumping across the screen, incidents where you shot first but are still shot and killed, or times where it looks like you've been shot around a corner.

So yeah, the quality of the connection is more important than having tons of bandwidth, and using a wired connection is more reliable than using wireless, but your mileage may still vary in terms of lag due to the other factors.
