Gold Without Knowing to now.

Hello , I today Found out that i had an Xbox Live Gold Membership for the usual 6.99 Euro , But i never agreed to be in Gold , Never got any Info on That and to now , Always Payed for it ( since they used my paypal to do the paymants ) , now i payed 3 month
worth of gold member ship i never used , never wanted and payed for without knowing or wanting it even. Now the question on how that comes? Are there Like hidden " Do u Agree to our ... and also want to get Gold " things or somthing where i could accidently
got that from , then just now , due to checking my mails and seeing that google made and automatic payment to them for the gold , instantly canceld it now , but wondering how all that happend. Im just Confused and Hate it so much now that i know about it ,
i mean i never got an email saying " ur now xbox live gold member " or anything along this , im not often in the microsoft or xbox store anyway , thaths why i just found out now.... Im Most likly sure im never gonna see my money back ever , but i atleast
wanna know why i lost it now...( and pls answers that could explain why or how ) thanks for any help .
