Gold Trial subscription does not really work for Multiplayer

Hi everyone,

I have recently purchased an XBOX One and I have started a 30 days trial period for Xbox Live Gold. It worked to play multiplayer games in two separate occasions, but now I cannot play multiplayer anymore. My account on Microsoft website shows I have a trial
subscription, but I cannot find any confirmation of that on my home console. I have tried deleting and reinstalling my profile (as suggested by the support team). XBOX self-diagnostics said I should be able to play multiplayer, but the game still does not
work.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated.

PS. Rhetorical question: if Gold trial does not live up to its promise, what guarantee do I have that it will work when I start to pay?

Trial subscriptions do not change your account status to gold. They only give you access to some benefits of online multiplayer, but not all modes will work with trials. Destiny requires a full gold subscription, so trials will not work with that game.

The Gold Trial Subscriptions are not full Gold subscriptions they just work for specific purposes depending on what it is designed for.

 

Thanks for the answer. I was under the impression this Gold Trial was specific to allow multiplayer. The amount of information that I can find about my subscription (on my console or microsoft account) is abysmal, or seriously obfuscated, and gives me doubts
about the quality of the setup.

 

Well it doesn't look like you are running a 30dya trial are you sure it was a 30dya trials not a 14 or 2day trial.

 

You need a payment options to use the console trials if it was a code then it's 14day trial if I remember correctly ones only came with 14day trials code

 

Thank you everybody for your input. After extensive reading and discussion with XBOX ONE support, I managed to solve the issue. Apparently this was caused by a missmatch in the locale: my account had an UK locale (I wanted to run the console in English),
but the billing address was from SE. After migrating the account to SE, the GOLD trial subscription works. The downside of it is that I have to run the console in Swedish.
