Gold subscription is recognized but can't play online

I'm unable to play any games online (was just playing last night). When I attempt to do so, I'm sent to the Xbox Live Gold subscription screen. If I try to subscribe for any length of time, or use a free trial code, it will say that I already have a Gold
subscription (I've always had a year subscription that automatically renews) and that I can't use the trial code/buy another subscription. But, even though my Xbox says I have a Gold subscription, I'm still sent to the subscription screen every time I try
to play anything online. I've tried removing my account and re-adding it, but I still have the same issue.

Hi, after buying and activating a code for an annual subscription to xbox live gold, I found problems to play multiplayer. Although the account is recognized as gold, I can not play online games like Fifa 18, Halo and others.

Hope you get this working soon! Try a hard reboot on your console. Hold the power button (on the console, not the controller) for 5 seconds (or until your console shuts off), then turn it on after it remains off for a couple of minutes. \

 

No, didn't work. Still not able to get a new subscription. I looked at my bank account and it was renewed last last year in May. There is no charge this year for Xbox Live on there, yet my Xbox says I have a Gold subscription and won't let me get one for
my account. And it's always automatically recurred by itself, I've never had this issue in the past.

 

Interesting, I looked at my payments saved on the Xbox and when I try to remove a card that I no longer have, it won't let me and says that there is a pending charge on it. Though, I never used that card to pay for a Live subscription, as it's set to use
my checking account because back when I first started using Live I didn't have any credit cards.

Yes I think I've got it figured out now. I forgot that my debit card had to be renewed this year, and it was trying to pay with the old one. I put it on an active card and now it's working. It had tried to renew the subscription in May, but was unable to
because I had gotten the new debit card the month before and my account page had it as 'Pending'.
