Gold Sharing

Sorry i'm kind of new to Xbox in general.

Could someone kind of give me a heads up on how the Gold Sharing works.

Like would that mean if one person on an xbox one is a gold member, another non gold account can still play online with them?

As long as a console either a) Has a gold members profile set the X1 as a home console or B) a gold member has signed onto a console all other Silver accounts are now gold members.

 

Based on some of the responses to this thread, could some one please clarify my understating of how this works?

Surely this only works with games that support split screen and not on 2 separate boxes, because the Gold Member sharing the game wont be signed in to the same box as the none gold member who does not have the Game. I have a gold account with sharing on.
My grown up son has an XBox in a different house, we are defined as being in the same family. I have Forza Horizons 2, he doesnt - We cannot play online together (or am I doing something wrong) - He can play Horizons 2 if I sign into his XBox, but it doesn't
support split screen, so we cant play online together.

What games does this allow you to play together. From my experience with the game I have, if we are signed in to different consoles, he cannot play the games I have, he gets a message "A gold member must sign in"

 

Ok. Yes you are right sort of.

If a game supported 2 player split screen online that scenario is possible on one console.

Now the other works like this. You have 2 consoles in a house.

The gold Member of the house has set one X1 as his home console and also has a digital copy of say COD AW.

The second console isn't set as anyone's home console.

The gold account signs into this one and starts playing COD because he is gold and can use any X1 to play CoD and he owns a digital copy also he can play on any console he signs into.

The Silver account uses the 1st console, the one the gold profile has set as home console and has all his digital purchases on it also. The silver account has gold because the home console made it that way and all games on that console he can play.

Me and my son mainly play different games but we've played each other at Pure Pool and Fifa (when i had trial of fifa) and raced each other on Trials

 

You can't share gold man, it's against the TOS. The best you can have is 2 or more X1's at home with one as home designation. Then use others as hubs for other users if you are so inclined...

 

@StudBIIJckHammer - It depends how you phrase it. You very much CAN share "Gold", which is why the XBox One setting is called "Share Gold" - Its designed very much for the way I use it. I am the only Gold account member in my family, but my wife and kids
all "Share" my Gold membership, as do my Grandkids who all now have accounts on my XBox and are defined as "my Family"

 

Yeah mark, I get that. But one GOLD account is needed to let other silver accounts use your said games. Get it? All your kids, wife, gran children's games would be obsolete less u have gold man...
