Gold Pass not working on other profiles on the same console

So my oldest son has xbox gold so he can play online. My youngest son now wants to do the same. I looked it up and discovered that if i made the console our "home console" the gold pass would work for all the profiles on the console. I did that but
it still isn't working for my younger son and he gets a prompt to buy a gold membership whenever he tries to do something online. Any suggestions? thx

You would just have your older son sign into his console and set it as his Home the same as you did on your profile. Changing the setting only applies to the account you're changing it from. That's why it didn't work from your account.

I went into my son's profile and it showed it as home console once i changed it from mine i think. I'll check again and unclick that and reclick it if so. Sound right? thx

If it shows as the Home for his account, then you don't need to uncheck it and check it again. Try holding the power button down on the console until it turns off, unplug the console, plug it back in, then turn it back on.

You can only changed your Home setting 5 times in a year, so unchecking and re-checking it to try to fix issues can use up some of those changes.

When I logged into my older son's account it was not showing as the home console - once we clicked that it was all good. thx Now I'm having trouble buying my younger son vbucks on fortnite - it's always somehting!!

My suggestion is that you make your son's profile the home Xbox. The account that has no gold should be set to home inorder to share the subscription.

No. The account with gold has to be the one to set the console as their Home in order to share. The account without gold setting the console as his Home would not effect sharing of the gold account.

Maybe this was the issue. I set the console as home on my profile, maybe I need to do it from my older son's profile since he has the gold membership? If so how do i change that since i thought it applied to all the profiles if the console was set to the
home from one of the profiles.
