Gold membership, turned into free?

For a long while now, my Xbox gold membership for some reason downgraded to a free membership, but I still can access indie games and youtube, but I cant play online or enter parties, I've put off fixing it all summer and now I want to fix it.

Xbox Live Gold subscription is required to play titles online.

If you're currently connected with an Xbox Live Gold trial membership, and haven't turned off automatic renewal, your trial membership will automatically renew into a paid membership that renews monthly by default.

I'm not too sure, i just know i paid full price for them. i just assumed purchases turned into rewards?

I've had points awarded in the past for renewing my gold membership.

You can check commerce.microsoft.com to see the length of time your Gold membership was when you purchased it. If the time for the membership has run out then it would automatically downgrade to Silver.

As for accessing youtube, the system has been updated so that you no longer need a Gold membership to access app features. You would, however, need to purchase any memberships that are required to use those apps.

If you have a current Xbox live Gold membership, and the game you're trying to download is gold free, then it is free as long as you have gold membership. I have a few games that I got for free using my gold membership.

Okay, just so I have a clear understanding of your problem, could you please clarify whether you can play online games with your profile? Or are the problems you are having occurring with both online play and the use of apps?

Regardless of that, could you go ahead and try deleting and then redownloading your profile to see if that resolves the problem for you? You can find a guide on how to do this,

HERE.

Firstly you will want to delete your profile, but be sure to select "delete profile ONLY". This way, you will not lose any of your save data or downloaded content. Once you have deleted your profile, go ahead and download it again. When your profile has
finished downloading, can you see if the problem still persists?

Please note: To download your profile, you will need to input the email address and password that is tied to your account.

If the problem is only happening when you try to access an app, can you follow through with the above solution and then delete and re-install the app(s) and try again?

To receive the one (1) free month of Xbox LIVE Gold membership I believe you must have a payment method linked to your account. This is because it will set up automatic renewal on your account, however, you can turn this off at any time to avoid being charged
for another month of Gold membership.

This should allow you to then receive the free membership; it did for my brother at least.
