Gold membership region?

I think i have the same problem. Initially i was using a fake address and my region was set to uk instead of where i am, saudi arabia, and later i updated the information and used the exact location and set the region to saudi arabia. i then bought a 12+1
gold pass which "seemed" like it was saudi arabia (it had arabic on it and was being sold by an electronic retailer in saudi arabia) but the code doesn't redeem. i just get a message saying "something went wrong". Is there any way i can still use my prepaid
card and if not, how can i make sure i don't encounter this problem again? Furthermore, are the prepaid cards for xbox cash region locked?

My son has a gold membership on his 360. I don't have a gold membership. If I add my son's profile to my new Xbox One, then it will give me gold membership as well?

Gold membership prepaid cards are not region locked. The problem with your purchasing is in the account emigration you carried out. I suggest you to contact the xbox live support service to sort this out:

Actually Gold membership cards are region locked which means that a card purchased in the US must be used for a US account.

If you tried to redeem the code on the website can you try doing it on the console? You can do this by clicking the Guide button on the controller and scrolling left then choose Redeem Code. Let us know if you still get an error code and post it here.
