Gold membership offer discrepancies

Both me and my brother have xbox live accounts, and due to a few reasons, cancelled some time ago. We were waiting for some worthy online game to get back to gold status, or at least a good offer to fool around with our older online games.

The other day, he received a R$ 53 (reais, as we're from Brazil) 12 month deal, while mine was R$ 35 for 6 months, which is 70 for 12 months (duh ). Since then, i've been waiting for a new offer to my account, as it didn't make much sense only him getting
a 'better' deal. Nothing. In fact, it went back to the old R$ 89 for 12 months (which is funny, because it used to be 89 for 12+1 bonus month as the usual deal).

So, i'm wondering: Are the offers random, or just sent in a way that the person with something better feels compelled to make the purchase, while the other guy needs to suck it up if he wants to play with his family/friends?

I haven't seen any of those coupon offers that you mentioned, however I do see coupons advertised on the Xbox Live dashboard all the time for a certain percentage off when you renew your membership. I think the best offer I've seen yet is for half off, if you renewed your membership that day.

For anyone who has a Gold membership with Xbox Live, have you seen these coupon offers? Supposedly, you can either get Xbox free or get a free trial offer for as long as one year. There might be a catch, but maybe they're just doing it to promote the Gold membership. Has anyone ever gotten a free trial?

 

Dashboard promotions are sent at random and to different accounts for different reasons. So there's no way to make a specific offer appear on your account.
