Gold Membership Canceling Out Of Nowhere!

I am having issues with my Gold membership canceling out nowhere. I decided to buy an XBox One (first time buyer) and got the one month membership. I had no issues with it and bought a few month ones through the automatic renewal system on my account. I
finally decided I liked the service and bought the year one at the beginning of March. I got an email around March 29th saying I cancelled my account. I know that I never did. I spoke to an agent and she said I was refunded the money and that I needed to buy
a new membership. I am still waiting for the refund. I bought a new year membership on March 31st and I got another email April 3rd saying I cancelled my membership again! I called MS and spoke with another agent for 2 hours and she couldn't figure it out
either. She said she would have to send the information out to a specialist. I got another email from MS Support today saying everything is fine on there end and that I need to get another membership again!

I am not getting another one until this issue is resolved. I told the agent that I am the only one with access to my XBox One and it is password protected. I am the only one associated to that XBox account (the one agent noticed this). I tried explaining
to them that there is no way I would change from the monthly subscriptions to a year one and cancel it in less than a month, then buy another year membership and cancel it within 3 days! That makes absolutely no sense. I was told that the subscription can
only be cancelled from my XBox One, but I am very certain that there is a problem with there system. I have never cancelled my subscriptions.

Apparently I am not the first person this has happened to. Has anyone else had there membership mysteriously cancel? This is a very disappointing first experience with XBox.

How to turn off auto renewal

It is recommended that you cancel your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership using the option of turning off automatic renewal. If auto renewal is "off", your membership will expire at the end of its current term.

Steps to follow:

1) If you are not already signed in, click Sign In at the upper right hand corner and sign in using your Microsoft account.

2) Proceed to My Account.

3) Click Change next to automatic renewal. Change the setting to OFF

You will be able to continue enjoying all the benefits of Xbox LIVE Gold Membership until your paid membership time expires.

Note:

If you want to cancel or disable your Xbox LIVE Gold Membership immediately, you should contact Xbox support. Use the Request a Call from Support option on the official Xbox Contact Us page. Your account cannot be canceled through chat or email.

If you disable your account immediately, you will lose the time remaining on your membership subscription.

If you are on a 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract, and you want to cancel before the end of the 2 years, you will be charged an Early Termination Fee and other applicable taxes. Once the two-year agreement period is over, your account will not be renewed automatically.

You can cancel the 2 Year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract using the option of self-cancel your subscription on Xbox.com

Have you tried to delete your profile (profile only, not items) and recover your account?

 

Have you been on phairshing sites?

 

Your account currently shows as having a gold membership. Can you access online apps or multiplayer right now?

You can also check how much gold membership time you have on your account at the following link

If it shows that you have 12 months (24 if phone support didn't cancel the existing membership) then the second email that you received both times may have been in error.

 

In my case, my account was canceled again with the same way. I noticed that when I logged in the xbox live Web site on the computer I received the cancellation email. I´m realy sad about this problem. I´m new xbox gamer too and I can´t be gold member...

 

same issue. I paid today for gold account and 30 minutes later received letter, that I cancelled it and I'm sure, that I didn't.

 

The reason it show's me as a Gold Member now is because MS gave me a 1 month membership for free. I got a response from them finally. The agent told me that there is a glitch within their system and it caused my account to cancel. I am going to let the free
month membership run out before I try the year one again. I never had any issues with the month subscriptions. It has only been the year ones that I have had an issue with.

LeoR2009, or azamk have either of you had problems with 1 month subscriptions? I'm wondering if it is a glitch tied to 1 year subscriptions.

There is an issue in the system which cancels the memberships for no reason and it has been reported and looked into, there is no fix as of yet.

 

I have had a similar problem. I had a one month gold sub for a month or so and decided to upgrade and paid for a year membership on 3/2/2014 with my current card. Never received a cancellation email or anything...and now I go to my account and find that
it doesn't even show my year membership...just a one month sub on a card I never use anymore. My payment history shows me buying the yearly membership but for some reason I got *** out of it and now I am being told that my gold membership will end if I don't
update my card info for a one month sub that shouldn't be.

 

My account (purchased on 12/13/2013) was also just canceled on 4/26/2014. I spent 2 hours on the XBL website and chat trying to get it resolved, which ended up being them sending me four codes (3, 3, 1, and 1 month). It took the email about 5 minutes to
arrive to my gmail account.

And then only the first code worked. The other ones gave me errors. Rep said to try them again and I did for about the next 5 minutes. Even though they all gave me errors I was able to get the full 8 months of "free" membership.

Why was the account cancelled? The rep didn't know, said it was probably a glitch. A glitch that I should bill 2 hours to Microsoft for. Honestly they should have given me a free membership.
