Hello everyone… It’s probably not recommended mentioning this here right now but if I’d known what a complete pain the Xbox One and Live Account and the appalling support via live chat was I would never have purchased the two machines or console I have.

    OK I have two consoles…

Console #1. This is, shall we say, the main console and predominantly setup for my two children to play on. I’m the main account or profile/parent and the Missus also has an account or profile on the console. Question? Can I change the config on this console
to boot/start-up in, say, my son’s profile or account?

The console is setup as a “Home” console and I have purchased “Gold” and gold is “Shared” or whatever it’s called.

Console #2. My profile/account is the main (only) profile on this console. This is mostly for my use. Every time in son start console #1 that I booted off my console if it is on.

Question? How can I purchase (and I’m really not very happy about this as M$ are up to their usual tricks)… How can I purchase Gold Membership simply to be able to play Minecraft online with my Son and Daughter? I can’t find a way to do this as I am using
the same profile for both console…

Thank you all very much in advance for any help out there. Thanks…

    :)

1 Gold Account for the whole family

My son has a gold membership on his 360. I don't have a gold membership. If I add my son's profile to my new Xbox One, then it will give me gold membership as well?

I don't have a 360 anymore, and don't have an Xbox One, but I would imagine that adding the account to console will automatically open up multiplayer to all users on the console.

As far as I know, you should be able to do this in your home with just the one gold live account and one purchase of Minecraft.

This is a quote from another thread from someone that was experiencing the same problem that you are having, credit to
    codemaster110 for the post:

As far as automatic sign in, you can assign a specific controller to a specific Xbox Live account. So when the console is turned on with that controller (or once that controller is turned on if the console is already booted up), that profile should automatically
start up. You can also use the Kinect for automatic login, if you have one connected to that console.

  5. Hi and thanks for the reply as I really appreciate it.

If I told you that I have spent/wasted hours and hours with my own efforts and attempted to make sense of all the absolutely appalling ‘support’ via chat you wouldn’t believe me. I’ve actually purchased two copies of Minecraft as I was running out of ideas.
The Gold membership is shared on the first console but every time I attempt to play the game online with my son then he’s told via a pop-up message that he needs Gold to play online (this is just such a terrible rip off)…

Regarding the second problem…. Yes, I understand your suggestion but this would not prove useful as I will perhaps play minecraft with both my son and daughter on the first console…

I know this is an old thread, but I can confirm this works. you have to install the digital game on both xbox ones using the account it was purchased on, then make one of them the home xbox for that specific account. Once its installed, the account
that purchased the game should be signed in to the xbox that is not his home xbox, and the second account signed in on the home xbox. if you assign each xbox to "home" one of the accounts, just sign in to the opposite to play the game.
The way this works is you are allowed to play any games that the xbox owner has purchased on his home xbox even when hes not signed in. The owner of the game is also allowed to play his game on any xbox that he can install it on.

So if you bought the game on your account, follow these steps: (i use "your xbox" and "his xbox" as the xbox you will play on, and the xbox he will play on, respectively.)

1: Using the account it was purchased on, Install the game on both Xbox ones.

2: Make his xbox Your Home Xbox by signing into your account and selecting the option in settings.

    3. Sign in on your xbox and play the game.

    4. He signs in on his xbox to play the game.

Works with all of our games so far. COD ghosts, Titanfall, peggle, and it should work with others as well.
As far as automatic sign in, you can assign a specific controller to a specific Xbox Live account. So when the console is turned on with that controller (or once that controller is turned on if the console is already booted up), that profile should automatically
start up. You can also use the Kinect for automatic login, if you have one connected to that console.

    Merging old family Gold account

    1) Is this true? If so ...

Yes, on the Xbox One, you can share your Gold membership will all the other accounts on your "home" console.

    2) Can each profile be active (playing) on the same xbox simultaneously, e.g. two people playing Call of Duty online?

    Yes, no problem.

    3) Can each profile be active on separate xboxes simultaneously, e.g. two people playing COD each on their own xbox? (we have four in our house)

Two might be okay - the Gold account can play on any console, while any other account can play on the console that is designated as the "home" console. Playing on 4 consoles at a time would require two subscriptions.

    4) Can the old individual profiles be brought under one single account and preserve all the profile names, achievements, friends, etc?

The accounts/profiles will still be separate - friends, achievements and such will stay with the respective accounts. It's just the gold membership being shared that changes - one subscription allows all accounts on a single
console to have access to the online multiplayer.

How many Xbox Live subscriptions do I need?

Actually youd really only need two gold memberships.

So you have console A, B, and C.

Have one of the accounts with gold set as the 'Home' console on xbox A. And then one of your kids can sign into THEIR account which does not have gold on console A.

On Console B You can Sign into YOUR account.

Console C will need a profile with its own gold membership.
