    Gold Cards not working/Xbox stopped reading discs/etc….


    I have loved Xbox for years but lately am getting very frustrated that 1. My 360 stopped reading discs (this is my 4th xbox) and 2. My subscription to gold ran out so I go to put in my Gold Card code and none of them are working whatsoever and they're new
    good cards...

    I go to xbox.com and try redeeming them on there and to no surprise the site is all bonkers and errors popping up this way and that…Im just sick and tired of getting screwed over again and again by xbox and whenever you need to contact someone, you get nothing…no
    help no directions…They just want your system to crash within 5 months so you have to buy a new one… Gold Cards not working/Xbox stopped reading discs/etc…. :( very disappointed

    Could it be a billing issue? If you have any kind of a billing decline on your account, like from an automatic renewal that couldn't pull money from a credit card, then prepaid codes won't work. Usually if you're in a billing suspension, "Your membership
    has been suspended until you update your payment options", then you can't access My Account on xbox.com either, and when you try you get the "Oops, you found a glitch" message. So that's what it kinda sounds like.

    Well the cards are more than a few days old, my cousin sent me the codes and they definitely are not used yet, the site recognizes the code as a 7 day and a 14 day trial, but i get a "Oops we're experiences a glitch in the system" error popping up on this
    site when I try redeeming anything, the site is acting screwy...i tried downloading my account onto my xbox again to see if the effects happened later but nothing...Im going to try adding money to my bank card today and if my xbox doesnt recognize that now
    either then i have a serious problem

    I'm sorry to hear that. Is the drive not reading ANY discs at all (not even Movie DVDs or Music CDs)? Have you tried using a cleaning disc (available in most electronics or HiFi stores). Some of these cleaning discs come with a cleaning solution, that you
    apply to an attached tissue on the disc. The solution can dissolve for example films of nicotine from the laser lens, in case the console is used in a room where people smoke.

    If that doesn't help, you can always send your
    console in for a repair or replacement
    , without having to contact anyone.

    Your Gamertag to the left of the post shows you as a gold member. What codes did you use? If you already had a currently running Gold membership, and the codes you tried to redeem were 14 or 7 day trials or even 48 hour codes, these do not work with a current
    Gold membership. As these codes are not "full" Gold memberships, they don't stack on your current normal membership time, as trial members don't get access to the Games with Gold feature or can't participate in certain ranked online matches.

    Only "real" Gold codes (like 3, 6 or 12 month cards) work.

    If you say your Gold time ran out, and you redeemed the codes, your Gamertag is showing Golden, which means the codes worked. However, if you redeemed the codes on your PC while your console was running, the console won't know of your updated Gold membership
    yet. The console only checks for the membership status once during the first sign in.

    Try to sign out and back in on your console and see if you now show up golden on your console.

    If not, force the console to synchronize your profile, by signing out (Guide then X), and then use the "download Profile" option in the Guide menu. This will cause the console to "check again" with the Live service, and since you're golden here on Xbox.com,
    the console will then have you golden as well.

    Could you describe the error messages in more detail? Are you able to sign in to
    this page here, and check if your account has proper security information in place, and that your other personal information is correct and up to date?

    Sorry you feel this way, and I know this will be not much consolation to you, as I'm not Xbox staff, but only a normal user like you that likes to help others voluntarily, but I had no issues with my consoles yet that weren't resolved in my favor.

    Maybe it was just my friendly nature when I called support about my problems, that sped up the problem solving. But your mileage may vary.

    Anyways: If you were so kind as to tell us the error messages you get, maybe we can figure out, why you have the problems you describe.

    You'll need to contact Xbox Customer Support by phone to settle this billing issue. I don't know if they can do anything using your prepaid card, or if the bill just has to get paid first, but they'll know how to handle it. If you're in the US, you can
    call them at 1-800-469-9269 (1-800-4-MY-XBOX), between 6am - 1am, 7 days a week.
