It must be some problem with Live. Your set up is correct. She should be able to use your shared subscription. Just in case, set it up again and then power cycle console.

Benefits of Xbox Live can only be shared on an Xbox if the account holding the membership is signed in. Make sure your account is signed in before she tries to play the game.

Keep in mind, this should only be set up on a shared household Xbox. Meaning if you do not live in the same house and sign in to your own Xbox, she would not receive any of the benefits related to your profile anymore.

As part of the Home Gold feature, other gamertags on your system, with the inclusion of a present Xbox Live Gold gamertag, will be able to use the benefits of that gamertag's Gold membership. They don't necessarily need to added to the Gold gamertag's family
to access Gold features. You don't need a separate membership if it's being used on the same console.

On Xbox One with its Home Gold feature (which is automatic), other gamertags are able to use Gold membership features with only one gamertag which has Xbox Live Gold. That is yours. Have your wife create a separate gamertag if not already with
a separate Microsoft Account. Accounts cannot be merged. As long as your Gold member-status gamertag is on the console, her gamertag will have Gold abilities.
