Given credit instead of refund for faulty goods

Brought a customised xbox controller and within week it went wrong and sent back to microsoft . The admitted it was faulty didnt give an option to repair or replace item instead gave a credit for Microsoft rather than refund.

Microsoft website says their refund policy on faulty good is refund to origional payment so why the credit????

. Spent ages on phone being put on hold and getting no where. Item was fault in warranty not fit for purpose and now having to fight for refund rather than Microsoft credit. Disgusting service
