Gifting xbox one games

Will gifting a game count towards myVIP rank? I am assuming it still has to fall within the 30 day release period for it to count.

Yes. Since you'd be making the purchase on your account it will qualify. There's not a 30 day release period purchases have to fall into. As long as the game has been released it will count. Preorders do not qualify.

Oh ok. Thanks. For some reason I thought I read the games had to be purchased within 30 days of its release in order to count. Maybe that rule has changed since then.

Hello ninjabear87,

Since your account is charged for this purchase, it will go towards your MyVIP rank, as long as your purchase is eligible for MyVIP. Pre-orders, consumables, and subscriptions are not eligible for MyVIP, so as long as the game is released, it will qualify
for MyVIP. There is no requirement to purchase within 30 days of release for a purchase to qualify for MyVIP payback (although it will be eligible if purchased during this time, since it is not a pre-order).

Seems that gift games is a Xbox One games geatures only, you can't gift Xbox 360 game... a workaround is gift a 5$ card to your friend.

Hi,

if you can't see the "buy as gift" option it means that the game might be one that can’t be digitally gifted (or maybe it can't be digitally gifted at the moment).

Edit, just checked and no backwards compatible games on my store can be gifted. I do know gifting is only available on Xbox One

I am unsure if a Xbox Gift is refundable. I know a Microsoft Gift card is refundable if brought from Microsoft and in't use within 14 days. Do your son have a Xbox One? If so, he can use use the gift card for Gold/Gampass subscriptions and other Xbox
One games.
