    Gifting games to other countrys.


    Hey. I gifted a game to a friend of mine. XB1 to XB1. But now he can't install the game. Even when he changes his console to USA it's still not working. My region is USA, my friends is europe.

    Is it true that i can't gift a game to another country?

    Is it possible to change the US code to a europe compatible code?

    Is my money lost?

    Ok, but Venezuela isnt on the list of Xbox Live supported countries for Xbox 360 but as I said before, I Can play online, buy games....

    How can I know for sure if the list is about some features availables and support or about where is gonna work the console and where isnt?

    I gonna cancel my Xbox One pre-order and I will pre-order a PS4.

    Yes, gifting games is region locked. Your friend would have to be in the US in order for the code to work. In order to get a code for a different region, you would have to buy it from a retailer that sells codes for that region.

    You would need to try contacting support for a refund. 1-800-4my-xbox or Contact Us | Xbox Support

    Thanks for the quick answer.

    It's a bit funny because if you are in europe and change the console to US, you can use the US Xbox store when you buy US$. But you can't install a game from a code.

    With region locking, your account region has to match your physical location.

    No, there is no way around it. Your best option is to purchase them a Canadian Xbox gift card, and give them that, so they can purchase the game.
