    Gifting Game not working


    On Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 around 7:00 pm, i purchashed a game for my friends as a gift and sent it to him. He recoeved the code to redeem but when he goes to redeem the code, an error pops up stating that “Something went wrong. Please try your code again.”

    He has tried to type the code in, but i dont think Xbox would send an incorrect code. Its still doing it today and I spent money on this.

    what can i do?

    Thank you for reaching Microsoft Xbox Forum support. The best option in your friend's case would be to contact our online support to check the account and the license of the game from their end and see what happened. You will find
    below the link to our online support, all you need to do is access it, click on the green button that says "contact us" and take it from there.

    Should be noted that if he isnt from the same region as you the code will not work

    When he gifts you a game you receive a code for the cash or game

    If you arent in the same region it will not work

    And yes gifted currency and games are region locked

    The game will work for both people even if you gift it.

    Just to add, when you gift a game it does tell you the game will only work in your region as you input the email address for the person you're sending the gift to.
