    So, I think I messed up. I purchased a digital download of the game Overwatch on Microsoft.com for my daughter’s birthday. I barely looked at the email when I bought it on 11/24 as I was saving it to give to her today. Today I open the email and click
    on the link and there’s no code. I was signed into my own Microsoft account when I purchased this. Does that mean the download is only available on my account and I cannot gift it to her? If so, what, if anything can I do so far from the purchase date?

    Can you gift a digital game you already own?

    You can't transfer ownership of digital content. The only way to gift it would be to purchase the game as a gift, so you would have to buy it again.

    On Xbox One it is possible to gift content to another player. When you select a game or DLC in the store you should see the option to buy the content as a gift that will then send a 25 digit code to your son to redeem.

    Yes. Currency from gift cards is used to purchase digital content so that would include add-ons and in-game content like V-bucks.

    Xbox gift cards can be used to purchase digital content through the Xbox Store. Microsoft gift cards can be used to purchase content through MicrosoftStore.com (which does have Xbox stuff there too but they have physical stuff too).

    No, you can only use your balance to purchase content as a gift. The gifted person will receive a 25-digit code in the email indicated to redeem the content in the account.
