Gifting console: Any way for recipient to keep installed games?

It is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service to trade your account to someone else.

However, games purchased and downloaded to your console have two licenses. One is to your account and cannot be transferred. The other is to the first console it was downloaded to and can be transferred to other consoles if your current one dies.

This means that so long as the games that were purchased by you are on the original console they were purchased on they can be accessed by all gamertags on that console. Create a new tag for your nephew and let him have fun.

There is isn't a way i know of that will let him play your arcade games without your account as well. But if he won't be taking it online then you could still use your account, as your account will only be signed in online on one console so it shouldn't
cause any problems.

But in later years if he wants to take it online then he would need a new profile if you want to keep yours.

It was within 10 minutes of my request. But I bought it as a gift also and it seems they have this policy.



Returns and Refunds. Gifts may be canceled and refunded to the Gift purchaser up to 14 days after the purchase or until redeemed by the Gift recipient, whichever occurs first. Gift recipients are not entitled to a refund or cooling off period, and you acknowledge that no refund will be made, except as required by law.

Now the gift was 'redeemed by the gift recipient' but obviously she cant play it because she doesnt have the base game and now there is no way to request a refund. So that kind o' sucks but hey I did get my refund and she has Xbox One so we can purchase the base game and all will be ok.

Hey, that's a great question, Derrell. Currently, there is no way of purchase a digital game gift in advance and the delivering the code on a specific day, like Christmas. It's a great idea that would work well with birthdays as well!

Until a feature like that gets implemented, you can purchase the games on Christmas Day using the Buy as Gift option and specifying the recipient's email address associated with their gamertag. They will receive an email with a code to download the game
shortly after the purchase is made.

by users in the same country/region, and only at Participating Stores.

i did not receive a notification about it being only redeemable in my country and i did it on microsoft edge as well

For clarity on where the restriction is noted - the site does state that gift will only work in the country it was purchased in.

When purchasing on the website, it's stated
before confirming the purchase, right above the buttons to choose Cancel or Next. On the console it's on the page to the right of where a user selects the Xbox friend/entering the recipient email address on the console.

The following text is what is on that page: "Your gift will be sent as a digital code that your recipient can redeem in [country of purchase] only. Recipient must meet any age requirements. Learn more about
Microsoft Gift Terms and Conditions and Microsoft Store Terms of Sale."

As for contacting a refund specialist - you have to go through the email address in the decision email. Customer support will not be able to assist.
