Gifted game went to wrong system

My friend (that plays on X-Box) gifted me dying light, and I tried redeeming it on my PC, but the game somehow got redeemed on my X-Box and now I can't download it on my PC without buying it again. What do I do?

Dying Light is only available on the Xbox from Microsoft Store which is why it got redeemed on your Xbox. If you want the PC version, you'd need to buy it from Steam, GOG or direct from techland (the Developer):

Hello ArticAce, a game or a Gift Card when it is redeemed it is not tied to the equipment, Xbox or PC, but the account.

Try to check which account was redeemed the game, so click on the link below and check the purchase history where the game you redeemed appears.

The account to which the game was redeemed is that it has to be placed on the console you would like to play.

NOTE: Once redeemed the code cannot transfer the game (product) to another account.

If the game is For Xbox only and doesn't have the PlayanyWhere badge, you won't be able to play on pc.

You said you restarted your console, have you done a hard shutdown? Try holding in the main button for 20 seconds or so and that should do a hard shutdown. And/or try unplugging the console altogether. I hope that helps!

Well for no apparent reason it actually worked after the thirtieth time I told it to restart.

So I guess the issue is resolved.
