Gifted a game to a friend, can't install it

So i recently gifted GTA v to my friend, but unbeknownst to me. Only The Xbox series S/X can install it on the Microsoft store. But he redeemed the code already and I was wondering if there's a way to refund it or do something about it...?

If you go to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders you can see all of your order history and if your friend did not successfully redeem the code you can still use it or possibly refund it I hope this helps!

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

Once a code has been redeemed there will be no option for us to request a refund.

There will be no workaround for us since it’s a specific version for Xbox Series X|S.

Seems that gift games is a Xbox One games geatures only, you can't gift Xbox 360 game... a workaround is gift a 5$ card to your friend.

Unfortunately you can't gift games if your friend lives in a different country. He will have to either gift to another friend in the US or request a refund. It does state at purchase that gifting is only available in the same country.

If they gifted you the Xbox version of the game, you won't be able to install it and your friend would need to request a refund.

If they gifted you the PC version, you can redeem the code at http://redeem.microsoft.com and install it through the Microsoft Store app.
