    We bought a 25 dollar microsoft gift card last year and when we tired to reedeem it it said the code hadn't been avtive but we have the recipt for it and we went back to ask about it and they said they couldn't do anything about it .

    Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The Microsoft account balance is essentially the same as a gift card since funds typically come from Xbox gift cards.
