Gift card with dollars on European account

Hello,

I have 20 dollars on my Amazon account and I thinking about buying 20 dollars Xbox Live Prepaid card, so I can use it for some games and etc. But I have European account and I am using euros not dollars. It will be changed automatically or it will be not
possible to redeem it?

$50 on my European account!!

Hi. I bought a $50 gift card for my brother. He's got a European account so he couldn't redeem the

code so I tried to redeem it through the website (I've got a US region). Now his account shows

that it has no Euros but $50 dollars. How can he use that money on his European account?

Hi, i have an UK account and i wanted to buy some gift cards but the only cards i can find right now are European ones. My question is the one in the title, do EU gift cards work on UK accounts? If not, am i allowed to change my region to an European country
and use them?

Gift cards can only be used in the region they are made for. So the card might redeem, but it will still show as dollars, not Euros and you would only be able to make a purchase if you change the region of your account.

Yeah you will need to match the currency of the region your account is from. Also keep in mind if you change regions on your account you will not be able to change it back for some time.

Hello JoeyMoretti, this usually happens when the Gift Card belongs to another region, in its image shows two dollar amounts, one can be US dollars and the other Canadian dollars.

This also happens with Euros for example, if a European redeems Spanish euros and then a gift of French euros they will appear separately in your account.

The way you spend these amounts is to change the console store region to the corresponding country and purchase some item.

Problem

You see the following error code when you try to redeem an Xbox gift card:

Error 80122734

This means that the currency that the gift card is in doesn’t match the currency used by your Microsoft account. For example, you have a gift card in Canadian dollars. That card can’t be redeemed on a US Microsoft account, which uses US dollars.

Solution

To resolve this problem, you can try to return or exchange the Xbox gift card at the retailer from whom you purchased it. Then, make sure that you obtain a card in the correct currency for your Microsoft account.
