    "Gift card not activated"

    so I go to put in a gift card my friend gave me and it said the card wasn't activated and to contact the merchant. I can't do this because I don't know where they got the card and they moved away so I can't ask them. How do I fix this.

    Hi, it can take up to 24 hours for the code to be activated although usually it is activated at the point of sale. You would need to contact the seller about this.

    Thanks for reaching out to us! Sorry to hear you're having trouble with a gift card. You may need to contact the seller of the card if it is not coming up as active, but if you'd like to reach out to the Xbox Support team for assistance, then you simply
    need to either request a callback from a live agent or you can speak to someone in chat by clicking
    here.
    It's going to ask if you want help from the virtual agent select
    no thanks,pick the category(Error messages and codes)and just pick a contact method
    (request a call from support or Chat is faster).

    Nobody here on the forums can do that, you could as advised by XBF Amber M try contacting Xbox support directly but I'm not sure what they can do other than advise you to contact the seller. If that was some dodgy bloke down the pub it could be the code
    card was stolen hence it not being activated.

    How do I get my Xbox live gold card to be activated

    It would have to be done at the store or you would have to call the 800 number that should be on the gift card or the receipt to talk to someone about activating the card. Gift cards are sold by third-party retailers and Microsoft has no power to activate them
