Gift card deactivated

My son was given a £15 xbox gift card for Christmas. She sent it with the gift card receipt that said it was activated but when he went to redeem it, he gets an error message to say its been deactivated. I have spoken to tesco,where my Aunt bought it, they have said its microsoft issue as it was activated in store. I have spoken to microsoft who have said I need to return to the store! This is so infuriating, I just want to be able to use the money she has given him. Please can someone help.

If you have a receipt for the gift card you could try speaking to where you purchased the gift card from to see if they are able to deactivate this card and supply you a replacement.

If you purchased this from a store, you should take it back along with the receipt, as it looks like it wasn't activated. If the card hasn't been activated, support couldn't really help as they have no proof you purchased it.

Unfortunately, under most circumstances the retailer is the one responsible for handling a problem with one of their codes, especially in a case like this. Make sure they understand that it has been deactivated (which is only possible on their end) not already used or some other problem.

when you buy a gift card from a store you need to be sure that the seller activates the cards if not you will not redeem the card.
