They should add a feature purchase a new digital game for a friend and they will get a text message with a redeem code from Xbox. I own a game but cant buy a 2nd digital copy for a friend to play too. THIS NOT A TRANSFER OF DIGITAL OWNERSHIP OF A CURRENTLY
OWNED COPY.

Come on Xbox! Let create a community here. We can't to do without this feature.

Wanna gift a friend with a Microsoft game

The only way to do this right now is to buy a digital game card and send that to your friend. Xbox is working a gift to a friend feature for the online store. It is currently in Alpha testing.

Just to add,the game gifting feature is coming soon so you can buy a game on the store & gift it to a friend.

It's being tested by some people in the Insider program at the moment so will probably be available when the next console update goes public,probably in November.

Sorry for the confusion gifting your friend this code.

As stated by StuartATrueRed, now that the code has been redeemed, there is exists no means for you to transfer that redeemed currency to your friends account.

That being said, if you do want to get your friend something, you can try to gift that specific digital item directly to your friend.
