    Hi, all GFWL Client Error - "There was an error retrieving your purchase history" :).

    I've been doing some research, because I recall GFWL needing .net Framework to run correctly. I also know that Win 8, 8.1, and 10 DO NOT install .net automatically (I had problems with another app for which .net was required).

    Not sure if this will help, but I activated .net on Win 10, and my problem went away. Here is a link with instructions: msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh506443%28v=vs.110%29.aspx

    Thanks for trying it, and letting me know. Sorry it didn't work for you. I guess the solution is a little more complicated. I will have another look around, see if I can find anything to help you all. I may even install GFWL myself, see if I can find
    a solution that way GFWL Client Error - "There was an error retrieving your purchase history" :).

    Hi, all GFWL Client Error - "There was an error retrieving your purchase history" :).

    Well, I installed GFWL (same error as this thread title). I tried a few things to try to solve it...

    Checked firewall settings.

    Compatibility Mode (after installation) for different versions of Windows, with and without Administrator privileges.

    Set a static IP address and forwarded relevant ports in my router.

    Installed GFWL using Compatibility Mode for different version of Windows, again with and without Administrator privileges.

    ALL unsuccessful. The only conclusion I can reach from all these tests is, it MUST be a server-side issue. My research also leads me to this conclusion. Posts going back years (including on Steam) saying the same thing. Multiple suggestions for a fix,
    none of them worked (for me at least). The program also removed one of my apps from my Start Screen, so I now have to trawl through them to figure-out which one WAS in the gap which exists now :-S.

    Sorry I don't have better news.

    Hello,

    I bought the Steam version of Fable III and the expansions in 2014, but now I can't load the expansions in game or redeemed the Steam DLC keys in the Games for Windows Marketplace client.

    In the Games for Windows Marketplace client, I have this message "There was an error retrieving your purchase history"

    I hope that your staff can fix the problem because me and many others people are really frustrated, I longed to play Fable III with all expansions on my new 4K monitor.

    I logged in and didn't get promoted for an update. Encouraging though as the 'couldn't retrieve purchases' message didn't come up. Personally I don't have any games to download but I have games that rely on the service such as viva piñata and GTA 4. So this
    is good. A grudging thank you I guess - I dint think MS has covered itself in glory and I really think this was just a case of flicking a switch on the relevant server that you removed in the first place. But at least it appears to be fixed

    Still doesn't work, the steps were to no avail. The previous posts in the forums show this broke before, Microsoft fixed it, then let it break again, leading to this most likely being a Microsoft server issue. Can this be fixed, or a refund of the games
    purchased be issued so we can repurchase these from a webstore that will keep our purchases available? I would prefer it be available through the windows wtore in windows 10 like the rest of our purchases.

    No, I am not getting an error at the top. My purchase history updates fine. I have 130 pieces of content attached to my account and when I open the GFWL Marketplace client, it will count through all 130 pieces and add them to my client.

    The only error I am having is with the key retrieval. It gives me that same error for every piece of content.

    Sorry to hear you're having trouble! Are you still running into trouble with the client? If so, have you tried a full PC reboot to see if there's any change?
    I've tried many times on many systems.

    GFWL client always comes back with "There was an error retrieving your purchase history. Please sign out and try again later"
