GFWL Client Error - "There was an error retrieving your purchase history"

This is some bush-league stuff Microsoft. We cannot access the games we purchased that use your silly backend.

None of this instills any trust towards your new Windows 10 store nonsense.

 

I have contacted a class action lawsuit firm and am waiting for a reply from them

How about fixing the problem Microsoft? Are we really supposed to believe that the biggest software company in the world is apparently having difficulties in fixing this issue? All we seem to get is vague, once a month responses about how you're "investigating"
and "working to fix the problem", but it's been more than FOUR MONTHS now! That really does not instill much confidence in Microsoft at all!

 

Totally agree, this is disgraceful from MS. Give us more detailed info about what is going on and then the animosity might not be so intense. From our perspective what MS is doing is wrong. It's as simple as that. And when we know software is still being
sold that depends on GFWL that is totally out of order. You've had long enough to restore the relevant back end/server.

 

Let's take some examples. Grand theft auto IV , still sold on steam but without GFWL being up and running it cannot run on ANY platform. Or Viva Piñata, the game I own in physical

Media form essentially useless because you cannot save a game without ... Wait for it .... GFWL being active!!!!!!! So even having physical copies of games isn't a workaround and of course people being unable to download their legitimate purchases is the
lowest of the low. Just because MS is not interested in GFWL anymore doesn't mean you can just shut it off. There are implications to be had for users

 

Microsoft games division is such a joke. GFWL was awful, Windows Store might as well not exist, UWP framework has people up in arms, and xbox one is lagging far behind the ps4. Just get out of the market Microsoft, no one wants you here anyways, given how
you treat your customers.

 

Half a year without a fix. Time is up Microsoft, you will be punished for this by using the "it goes viral" social network.

We paid for our content and now we cannot access it. Totally unacceptable.

Also, I've read posts saying try running in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode (if you are on Win 8 or above), run as Admin, many suggestions... Some work for some people, some unfortunately don't. I haven't used GFWL since I last played DiRT 3 & F1 2011 on it,
so it's been a while.

I'm encountering this as well when trying to download & install DLC for Fable 3. Initially, it would give an instantaneous error when I tried to download in-game or if I launched GFWL. So I uninstalled both Marketplace and GFWL-Redistributable, and then
installed the version from here:

www.xbox.com/.../DownloadClient

Following this, launching the game led to it updating the GFWL client again.

This resolved the instantaneous connection failure, but that was replaced by downloads just being stuck at 0% in-game and getting the "There was an error retrieving your purchase history." error in Marketplace.

I've tried launching Marketplace as Admin, but that has no effect. And I'm already running Windows 7 so Win 7 compatibility mode wouldn't make sense.

I hope a solution to this is still being sought! Thank you.

 

I'm receiving the same error as the people in this and other threads, the "There was an error retrieving your purchase history." error. It's a real shame the games and Dlc we bought are basically gone. I hope they'll solve this.

The GFWL Client is trying to reach Service but because this is taken down that is why the
client is unable to retrieve the purchase history.

 

Going on for months and still can't access my games. How would I go about getting a refund? smallflacid wouldn't let me wait months to pay, so why should I wait to play?

 

Have GTA 4 which i want to activate but that *** program is writting thing like OP. Guys anyone have solution?

 

Still no updates, and another closed thread. What a joke.
