    Hey there djc5166.

Thanks for clarifying! We were able to test this out on our own machines and didn't run into any trouble, so that we don't repeat any steps, what troubleshoot have you tried already? It may be worth uninstalling the client completely, restarting PC, and then
re-downloading it to see if there's any change. Keep us in the loop and thanks a ton for your patience with this.

Hi there the Games For Windows Live marketplace got shut down a while back so your no longer to access able to get games from it but where it shows our game library when Games For Windows Live loads up you should be able to download Age of Empires 3 and
then once it has done downloading you should be able to install it again.

Unfortunately there isn't much Microsoft can do about i as they shut it down so the only thing i can suggest is buy the game again from a shop but sorry there isn't much we can do due to server shut down and no support to this part of Microsoft any-more

Here is a link where is selling the game:

  5. I am quite aware that the service was shutdown.

    www.xbox.com/.../DownloadClient

According to this page however I should still have access to my purchased content via the client in the normal manner. Clearly a part of the service has stopped working as I am not the only person unable to access my purchase history and hence redownload
    purchased games.

  7. I was asked by Xbox support to make this post.

I need an answer from them or someone who can help resolve the issue.

Their webpage clearly states that I should be able to redownload games purchased from the store, and not to be told to go buy a game that I have already purchased again.

Same problem here. Although Games for Windows Live is retired, Microsoft states all previous purchases are accessible through the client. I start the client, it connects, and then: "There was an error retrieving your purchase history. Please sign out and
try again later." Signing out and trying again later does not fix it.

This is frustrating. Looking for answers on Microsoft forums leads to run-around, and links to knowledge base articles that have been removed. Why would Microsoft remove solutions for this client? They do not disappear by themselves...

I have found all kinds of suggestions on Steam forums and through Google searches, and none of them work. Uninstall and reinstall and reboot. Give me a break. Has Microsoft now dismantled account connection for Games for Windows customers, and simply not
told anyone? When it was retired, that meant you could not make new purchases. It did not mean your old purchases disappeared. Apparently, now it does.

  10. I'm having the same issue, this is why I hate buying anything digital if the service goes then your purchases go with it.

  11. Hey guys, there is an existing thread on this wherein a member of the Official Staff has commented that they are aware of the issue and are looking into it.

That post is from November 17th. I PM'd that staff member a couple week later and got the same stonewall reply we are getting now.

An update other then "we are aware of / working on the problem" is needed at this point in time. 4 months of being unable to access purchased content is unacceptable and inexcusable, ESPECIALLY from a company such as Microsoft with the resources at it's
    disposable.

  14. Oh, hello there! Another thread that has slipped through with the GFWL issue.

As Neko has shared, we are still working on it. I have no updates at this time, but believe me when I say I am pushing for you guys to get resolved every week. I really do wish I had more information to share at this time, but once I do, I will provide an
update in here for you guys.

Thanks for everyone's patience! I'm incredibly sorry this has been so long, but know that we are still looking into this. GFWL client, can't retrieve purchase history, I want to reinstall AoE 3 :)

  15. A quick FYI for everyone, DO NOT mention taking legal action against Microsoft over this issue because doing so will result in the thread being locked! Reference thread that has now been locked:

    forums.xbox.com/.../2074436.aspx

How about actually fixing the problem Microsoft? Are we really supposed to believe that the biggest software company in the world is apparently having difficulties in fixing this issue? All we seem to get is occasional vague responses about how you're "investigating"
or "working to fix the problem", but it's been more than FOUR MONTHS now! That really does not instill much confidence in Microsoft at all! Until this issue gets resolved Microsoft will get no more of my money!
