GFWL - Can't Download Purchased Game

Hello,

I am having an issue with my GFWL live client. I'm getting the 'There was an error retrieving your purchase history. Please sign out and try again later." Now I'd already had my game (Age of Empires III) installed as I was moving some files around, so
I uninstalled it but can't reinstall it. I get the following error messages when attempting a reinstall:

Download of item failed. Retry later.

Code: 80131501

An unsecured or incorrectly secured fault was received from the other party. See the inner FaultException for the fault code and detail.

If I hit retry I get:

Download of item failed. Retry later.

Code: 8013150C

Type 'System.ServiceModel.Channels.ReceivedFault' in Assembly 'System.ServiceModel, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' is not marked as serializable.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling (with the latest client), restarting, checking network settings, etc. Any assistance would be appreciated (or, even better, a key to redeem on some other client so I don't have to keep using GFWL and dealing with
these persistent problems ... )

Age of Empires III from GfWL

I purchased Age of Empires III several years ago on the Games for Windows Live marketplace. The downloads from the GfWL client have been broken for years. Did Microsoft ever provide a new way to download the games purchased on GfWL, or alternately, provide
Steam keys for those games?

 

Xbox 360 Download Queue?

Hi I recently purchased a Shelby GT500 for FM4 on Xbox.com. But I can't see my download in the download queue. Please help. I made my account in GFWL and i recently got an XBOX.

Compatibility Mode to see if that can help out.

Today I am getting the following error when trying to login:

"Sign In Error.

Can't sign in. Please try again later.

Code: 80070005

Details: WLID1.0 realm="WindowsLive",

fault="ReasonTimeWindowExpired"

policy="MBI", ver="6.7.6643.0"

Comparability mode doesn't resolve this particular error (tried windows 7, it prompts for an additional download, and windows 8)

Also, you may be seeing this error message due to Windows Firewall blocking the program. If you open Windows Firewall and select "Allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall" and "Add games" or "Add another program" to find it, was that able to
solve the issue you're seeing?

 

I get this exact same issue. Microsoft Support was no help what so ever and wanted me to pay for premium support.

Since the Fall Creator Update for Windows 10 I've had this issue.

I've tried to uninstall and re install that failed

I've made sure that the client is allowed through the firewall

LIVE was having issues downloading my profile in game until I enabled game mode through the game bar, however when the client as a game and enabling game mode didn't work.

I've tried creating an app password because I use 2 step authentication and I get authentication failed when trying to use that password.

When disabling 2step authentication I still sign in but still no purchase history

When using a computer account not linked to my Microsoft account I get an xlivewrapper dll error which I can only conclude is that something in the backend changed on Microsoft servers which broke the gfwl purchase and sign in verifications.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

I can now log in again (I think it was some hiccup on the Microsoft side, as I've changed no network settings), however I'm back to square one. Same original errors in compatibility mode (windows 8)

Additionally, do you own this game on disc or digitally and where did you acquire the license for the game from?

Please create a separate forums post on this matter as it sounds like you could be experiencing something a bit different here.

 

Anything older than windows 8 requires a separate download. I don't own the disc, I bought the game directly from microsoft during a sale when they were promoting the platform about a decade ago

software that will run an older game like this that was designed for an older operating system.

 

The issue isn't running the game (which I have done successfully before on this exact same machine), its that I can't even download it because my purchase history isn't loading properly. I need to be able to access the game I purchased first
